Sean Dempster

Post: # 1081955Post lyonhearted »

Fantastic win by the boys today, fanatical desperation and will to win which resulted in both BJ and Sean Dempster going down as a result of friendly fire.

I know that Sean Dempster is one that many like to bag on this forum. What you saw in the last couple of minutes is the reason why this guy gets a regular game; it's not because he's the coach's pet or any rubbish like that but it's because he's a guy with limited talent who gives 200% week in and week out. He's given a job to do each week and he regularly carries it out well.

Bloody courageous act Sean Dempster and I'm sure you won a few fans today...hope you're back soon.

He plays every single minute of every single quarter.

Massively underrated in the role he plays.

Hope he is OK, saw the oxygen and he didn't move.

Very courageous.

Was extremely good today and has been building towards this for a while.

Really hope he's not out for long.

The thought of his replacements - Baker or Raph - doesn't fill me with hope.

Wow a positive Dempster thread.

Good one. Did a great job today, but I am sure the usual suspects will b here to bag him

Would be a very low act for any player sent to hospital.

been good enough the last few weeks to shut the baggers up.
lucky we have bakes fresh for next week.
unlucky time to meet the pies - back from the west and a few will likely miss.

Dempster played a ripper. As usual, his one percenters were constant. Difference was everyone was putting in today.

Hope he's back up soon!

Kept Ballantyne quiet as well. (although the little prick should have got that one from 20m out).

Well done to Dempster, he really is a great professional and team player. Super courageous. Hopefully there's no serious damage and he's back sooner rather than later.

He is a determined, quiet achiever, where punch-outs, blocking and handballs on the backline are just as important as kicks.

Doesn't normally get this much support on this forum.

I'm not a Dempster fan, but the last 4 to 5 weeks, he's been very very good. Should be ok, spewing that he might/more than likely miss the Collingwood game :(

I love the fact that he is supposedly a coaches pet, like a coach will play a lesser option because he likes a guys personality. Sean may have shown a few why he gets games. No rolls royce, but more an old holden, doesn't look fashionable, just keeps going along with minimal fuss.

I like the old Holden v Roller analogy.

I'll admit, I've been a harsh critic of Seano. I guess his latest encounter with danger has shown why RL holds him in very high esteem and his critics (like myself) are now eating their words

Coaches will often unduly favour players who work hard and do exactly what they are told to do. Dempster is one of these. I think there is a clear role for him down back ATM, especially with Baker out of the team. I don't like him as a defensive forward (nor did I like Eddy in that role). Lyon has sometimes had too many relatively talentless players performing roles. But Dempster has always been the most talented of these (at least he can kick).

Don't like the term talentless. These guys are all good enough to play at that level, maybe just not exciting players. Eddy is still young and should be given a chance to play off the back line again. He isn't going to come in to the finals and make the difference. He still is at an age where he has his best ahead of him.
