Another thread states we're shy on ruckmen, which I do agree with. Speaking of which, what's the deal with young Rhys Stanley?

He's not injured is he? If not, how is his form coming along at Sandy?

Still too slight to be rucking in the AFL. He jumps too far away from the contests to avoid serious body contact. Form is improving in the VFL but would need to play some seriously good footy to get in ahead of Kosi or McEvoy

He is that awkward Frazer, Kosi, Fletcher, Kruezer sized player. Too slight for ruck, to tall for general players. Some make the most of what positions do suit them others don't. I see him as a forward long term, not a genuine first ruck.

His form at Sandringham has been average.
Spending most of his time in the ruck.

Has been improving slightly with the ruckwork and is OK around the ground but to be brutally honest he has been going nowhere so far this year.

He's a concern atm. A real concern.

I'm not concerned given hes being played as a ruckman - they take time and his build is still well short of what we require. The Essendon game showed that in several marking contests.

He has great pace for a big man and can boot a long goal, kicked one last week in the VFL.

I'm more concerned with Heyne and Lynch not getting games, more worried about their development than Stanley.

The thing that has struck me in his VFL games and AFL games this year is his inability to mark to ball.

Can't mark in a pack, can't mark on the lead, just drops simple marks way too often for a guy his size.

His athleticism and build suggest he has a future at AFL level, but he's got a bit of work to do before then.

Right now Rhys' main and only asset is his speed and hes not being allowed to use it

His pack marking is OK at VFL level but non-existant at St Kilda. Ruckwork ditto

Lynch must be soo very close. Heyne I have doubts about. Sadly looks like hes a bit of a one-sided one trick pony who can do a flashy thing once a half. Looks seriously inconsistant and has had a couple of chances to show what he can do at AFL level

His first week in this year he used it to lay 7 tackles, the following week he laid none.

I'm actually not sure what anyone has seen in Rhys... His matches last year when Roo was down and out were very underwhelming, and has shown no form in any level of competition consistently with his time at the club...

Winning the GF sprint raised his credentials massively...

Personally, I dont think he is going to make it...

And I am generally one all for the youngsters... Would love to see Lynch, Sippos, Steven, Cripps and Smith play a big part this year, along side Armo and BigMac as regulars...

Even a bit of a fan of how Archer goes about it, and I think he has plenty to work with... If our season continues to go down the drain, he should be given a bit of exposure...

But Stanley, to me, has shown nothing... Same goes with Heyne...
