Rejects are rejects for a reason

Post: # 1008418Post Enrico_Misso »

I'm NOT talking about luring big names from one club with big offers.
Or offering a high pick to pick up a handy player.

I am talking about clubs that basically tell a player they no longer have a future at that club.
For some reason often other clubs prick their ears up and think they can do something with them.
There are some exceptions, but in the vast majority of occassions the player never lives up to the hopes of the new club.

Examples ?

We knew that Goose was past it and X-man doesn't have the body for AFL footy, but Brisbane knew better!

Freo decided they had given Peake enough chances and the Bulldogs felt that Ray had let them down in a final.
But of course we knew better.

I think Farren's been ok for us.

Agree. Poor Peakey got found out on the big stage and his shocking kicking came back to bite us.

We probably lost the GF in the trade period when we lost Ball to the filth and the Lovett deal went haywire. Had Lovett played and played well in the first GF, we may now be all smiling.

Peake had 7 effective kicks combined for the two GFs - less than one per qtr.
Some of his ineffective kicks were not just ineffective from our point of view. They missed their intended targets by significant margins and totally set Collingwood up for goals.

Can you teach our whole team to kick? It wasn't just Peake, our disposal by foot is atrocious. We need a kicking coach bigtime.

I don't this either club had a say in Peake or Ray's departures. Both have been great on occasions, both were crap the last 2 weeks...Roo wasn't that great either, shall we give all 3 their marching orders?

Possibly.
Though I think Lovett was a time bomb primed to go off at some time.
A really stupid piece of recruiting.

Good point. In the last three grand finals, injury circumstances aside, Roo has had a total of two stinkers and a break-even. Is he a reject?
