A one-sided Grand Final Replay?

Post: # 1005248Post saintspremiers »

I can't imagine it will be close.

I can't handle the thought of it being close yet again.

I reckon with all the tired bodies that one side will run away with it in the last term.

Thoughts??

That's what I've been thinking too. I reckon there might be a 4 or 5 goal margin.

well they did as one last week, whilst our boys stayed upright, got into a tight huddle and listened to Rooey tell them "One more week boys, and it is OURS!".

If it's one sided, we won't be the winner. It's not our way. Alas, if we are to win, it will be the same as most of our wins against the top teams. Stay close or just on top to three quarter time in a low scoring game, and then take the game in the last. It almost worked last week, but we gifted one too many goals in the first half. Cut out those and we are on our way. The fate of the game rests with the reduction in errors from our least skilled players.

It could be, especially if they run out of gas and we get a run on. IN that situation we usually put the cue in the rack and let whoever we're playing back in, but this week, with no following matches to conserve our energy for, we could go right on with it.

roo calls and wins the toss...
kicks to the pies cheer squad end first
after much too and fro ing for 4 qtrs of tough high tense, hard football, with no team getting more than 15 points up...
theres two mins left on the clock in the 4th...
the saints are 1 point down...
brayshaw is going banana in the box/in my ear about the possibility of ANOTHER draw and extra time...
shaw grabs the footy off an errant clearance kick from a saints player along the boundary...
he cuts back in and handballs to the Step Ladder Harry O'B who bombs it in forward...
dawson spoils cloke and both follow up at the footy...
cloke collects and goes to turn zac inside out, but...
zac slaps on a tackle, the ball spills, they go to ground...
pies fans SCREAMING for a free kick...
grammy picks up the lose footy that was spilled from the tackle...
handballs to lenny, then a crossing centre kick to goddard who is running from centre half back thru the middle...
he doesnt break stride...
one bounce...
dodges around luke ball...
delivers a long 55 meter kick into a contested pack where roo climbs above and plucks a contested mark
the best we have seen from him yet...
he is 5 meters out...
dead in front...
.
.
.
the sirens sound...

as he gets up...
the saints cheersquad end is going absolutely damn right farking bonkers about 8 meters away from him.

Nah. Too much angst. I'll take the easy 30 predicted by Will Brodie thanks.

Don't like this theory, as we're not a side that puts teams away. Doesn't seem to be our style.

Time will tell :)

Even to half time, then the Saints pull away.

15 points up at 3/4 time.

Win by 28.

GO SAINTERS!!!!!!!!!

No idea who will win but IMO it will not be close. It will end up to hard mentally for one of the sides to come up this week.

I reckon Collingwood will crack first and will do so in spectacular fashion.

I'm with you Plugger. In a sense, at least.

I can't remove myself enough from an almost genetic bias towards us - I admit that - but I must confess I just really like the way our guys go about their stuff when it gets tough. It's like a wall.

Really respect the Pies for what they've done this year, but I can't help but look at GF 1 and see one side succumbing badly to another despite that other being down a rotation.

I simply can't envisage our seasoned bodies and wise heads doing anything other than eventually dominating this one, especially if we can manage another 15 or so inside fifties. With tiring bodies out there, the game's sure to open up at times so I can't see the movement forward being too much of a problem.

Hope I'm right.

I suspect it will be like one of those mountain climbs in the Tour. The pressure will be on and then one will go for the break. The other will just crack and fall away. It will be about mental toughness and we all know who will prevail!

Another opportunity awaits!

Agree it won't be a close margin (hope not anyway, couldn't cope with that 3 GF's running), i think the saints will get up by 5-6 goals, and blow them away in the last quarter.
Still think Peake is a sneaky chance at norm smith (can't play worse than GF 1)

I must say I found it funny when some people picked peake for the norm smith last week. In 20 games this year I doubt he has been in the top 5 once let alone BOG in a GF. Doesnt make sense to me. Just look at last week, the 2 best Sainters for the year were the best 2.

You make too much sense, lol... I guess we get seduced by the juicy odds offered, i guess he is that price for a reason. Although i had $10 on Gram last year to win the norm smith at $101, as i didn't think he could play anywhere near as badly as he did in the prelim. Nearly got up
