Agree with P66, defo No, to valuable elsewhere on the field. His 50m kick to Rooeys chest is required.

They always triple team Roo anyway. He's used to it. The key is giving him enough room to run and jump at the ball. If he can run his oppoenet around, then he can double back, run into space, and mark close to goal like the qualifying final.

BJ is too important in the midfield and down back. Besides the pies are on record as saying that BJ is our most important player - so pretty sure they will assign a run with player to him anyway.

I want BJ to start down back, we know they are going to try and hit the scoreboard early.

The only thing that will stop Roo is the weather.

Goddard is far too important coming out of defense if Fisher and Gilbert are shut down. And way too influential in the midfield when he's hunting packs and delivering.

Roo will benefit more from Goddard in the midfield than Goddard in the forward line.

On that, Gwilty becomes so, so crucial.

IMO he'll be the one that slips under the radar a bit. They can't take all three of our running defenders. They don't have the guys capable. Gwilty's left boot is a beauty - just creates space and time - and it needs to be razor sharp on Saturday. Big ask for a bloke in his first GF, but from what I've seen this year he's a cool head and well up to the task.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

If Roo is being double teamed then I want the ball in BJ's hands to pick out the guy on his own.

This.

Seriously if the Pies double or triple team Roo it opens the door.
The Cats did it and it generated ample shots on goals for a swag of Saints who unfortunately all piked the same day to kick inaccurately.

The key is if and when they do it that we must capitalise.

If we do that, it will in turn free Roo up.

I can't see our smalls swuibbing two grand finals in a row especially if the weather is fine.

That would just be too cruel.

We really have to make the most of every single opportunity this time.

Good call.

Gwilt was an crucial factor against the Pies in round 3.

Goddard forward would only be something Lyon did if we were struggling to score and were behind in the 2nd half IMO ...

The best kick of a footy in years should be hitting up the forwards lace out or drifting down and kicking a goal not stuck in the forward line.

I would start him down the back to help avoid any early onslaught. MM likes to have Maxwell loose and this suits us. It's whoever blinks first. If we get BJ loose, we WIN.
