And I love this quote from "The Tackle" in the HS (sorry if it's already been posted elsewhere)bob__71 wrote:A great article and insight into MG. A quiet bloke in the media, so I guess when he does say something you tend to listen.
Hopefully Gardy can have 'premiership player' to add to his list of accolades.
"He's an inspirational leader and I'm just rapt to have come to the club and had something to do with him. He's been a good mate, as well as an exceptional teammate."
Teammate Michael Gardiner breaks his silence on Saints skipper Nick Riewoldt.

If we win and he goes out massive kudos to MG. I for one thought hed never play again 5 years ago. Not only has he played hes been one of our most resilent reliable and competitive. Most importantly he loves the big games and the contest. Hes been HUMUNGOUS for us.
I think the regard the coach holds him in is displayed by which 5 players were being rested at the end of the game on Saturday.
Roo, BJ, Lenny, Dal and MG.
I dare say they are the 5 the coach values as our most important. We can ill afford to lose any of those core 5.

Then we would see the introduction of the Michael Gardiner "Send Off" Rule from the team that gave us Policy On The Run.3rd generation saint wrote:If he decides to retire, well he wont care about the MRP will he.
Would be nice to see him absolutely flatten a half dozen filth players through the game and leave them with the fear of God should they go near the ball.
Love the big bloke and think he has another year in him, but if we win I wouldn't blame him for wanting to go out on a high.
