Open Training Session

Post: # 992746Post Enrico_Misso »

Just got back from the open training session (of course we didn't get offered one at the G).
Very low key as you would expect from a seasoned GF team.

It was more of a warm down session than a training session.
No kicking at all.
Just jogged some laps and then a few sprints (at running speed) and then lots of ball drills.
Dal and Grammy looked OK.
Bakes was getting plenty of support.
Got a high 5 from Kosi as he jogged past (probably lucky he didn't poke me in the eye).

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

Yeah atmosphere was good but much more reserved than last year.

Thanks for that EM.

Good to see that Kosi's high 5s are starting to hit their mark at the business stage of the season :D

Thanks for the update. Wish I could have been there.

Not surprised to hear it was somewhat low key, even they way they boys sang the song was low key. Whole hearted for sure but you can tell there is unfinished business on their minds.

Whilst these session are a great tradition and good for the fans.
I think it is best for the players to get it done and over with early in the week (as in Monday morning), so now they can get on and focus on what needs to be done without the constant (well meaning) backslapping from all us fans.

I presume that'll be the last open session?? I'm sort of hoping so.

I wasn't able to make it, and to be honest I was happy to just stay clear. I attended last years one, but feel a few changes are good :D

Dal is a bit of a worry. He did a lap, but then I didn't see him for the rest of the session.

On SEN on the way home they said he left the ground with back tightness.

I heard him say to a fan, "I'll be right", but who knows. There could be some ducks and drakes going on.

Misso, do you even bother to look at what's happening or do you just go there and see what you want to see?

If there's something wrong with Dal, he's a great actor... was interviewed on on the channel 9 footy show yesterday and looked as happy and confident as could be.

Well, he did say 'OK' and not 'Brilliant' or 'Shot duck-esque'.

22 'OK' players on a Monday after a big match like Saturday night is a good thing!

Also thought Dal looked fine, he seemed very happy and in good spirits, and was moving ok.

It was just a few run throughs and stretches.

The group that did not do any running or kicking contained Michael Gardiner (nothing new), Nick Dal Santo AND Clinton Jones (who was hampered by an upper thigh problem in the last half of the PF). Nick actually did one kick, with his right, and at that point, Mr Misson told him to go inside. Neither seemed pleased, but I reckon for different reasons.

I was happy to see him come back on in the second half but wasn't happy that he only kicked with his right foot and not his preferred left. That was the worry for me.

We definitely need some luck from here on - again it seems to be against us at this critical stage, but a lot can happen in the GF, including some early injuries to Collingwood's key players (are they immune?).

Anyway good to see Dal and Gram taking part in training.

Hopefully Dal, Gram and Jones will be good to go come Saturday.

Anyway Baker is a fresh option and is built for the finals - hopefully we can use him if needed.

on afl.com.au they said he left early.

also if there was no kicking involved we would not have a clue how him or gram are.

Watching the replay he did kick with his left in the second half.

He will play.

Thats true about Dal, but I suspect Gram will be right. He did the sprints with the rest of the main group.

Only one missing was Robert Eddy.

Given the way that he threw himself into every contest, it could be anything. I wonder how his hand is.
