West Coast 1991-1992

Post: # 978528Post dcstkfc »

Just a thought, perhaps after a dominant season where you fall at the final hurdle, it is difficult to play your best during the home and away season the following year knowing that ultimately it all comes down to the finals.

I might be wrong, but remember as I posted after the Grand Final last year, in the last 20 years, five teams have not won the premiership following 18-4 or better seasons.

4 of those 5 won the flag the following year.
Port Adelaide won the flag two years later.

http://stats.rleague.com/afl/teams/west ... .html#1992

A lot of similarites to St Kilda 2010. A few shockers, a raft of unconvincing wins but getting the job done and then hitting their straps come September.

West Coast beating Carlton in Round 24 of 1992 actually got St.Kilda into the finals.

For some strange reason I do remember that game. Played at Western Oval in absolutely atrocious conditions.
