The Baldock Book

Post: # 968668Post SydneySainter »

Is anyone reading the new Darrel Baldock book? The incomparable 'Mr. Magic'.

Only read the first twenty-two pages and already I feel like watching the 66 premiership again.

Didn't realise that the book existed until I read your post.

I've since Googled and ordered it, and am looking forward to what looks to be a great read.

simple check of saints.com.au
launch was in Tassie two weeks ago

It was Lou Richards who first tagged St Kilda Football Club’s 1966 Premiership captain Darrel Baldock with the title “Mr Magicâ€

For a biography of not only St Kilda's sole premiership captain, but arguably the greatest Tasmanian in football history, I'm surprised just how little promotion this book launch got. Saints shop is apparently the sole distributor in Victoria.

A guy from work went to the launch in Latrobe the other Wednesday night. He got me a copy signed by the Doc & Peter Lyons, the author.
Cowboy & John Bingley were there for the launch.

I've been given it for a present. It's a good book , well written , generous size, good photos and very readable.

I hadn't heard about it either, until I saw it in a bookshop in Launceston last week.

Grabbed a copy for myself and my old man (that's fathers day sorted out) before I left for Melbourne.
