McEvoy the Hero

Post: # 961929Post mohannair »

I am surprised no one has mentioned about the Hero last night. It was a remarkable play by Ben with 12 sec. to go to win the Tap & kick the Goal.

Had it been a Joey or Roo we all would be writing article after article.

Come on Sainters let’s give credit where it is due.

For the record we have not lost a game in last 15 games when he has played. I am sure he is close to break the record of playing consecutive games without a loss.

Even Ross was mentioning in his press conference that in Hind sight we should not have dropped him last week against the Filthwoods.

The lucky charm. He's only played in one losing game.

well said, it was a great goal for a big man and he should receive the accolades he deserves

He played against Essendon this year which would have been his 15th win in succession.

Some interesting records or near records on this page

http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/allt ... ayers.html

Clinton Jones is 28th in the all time win loss record for players with more than 50 games.
Jimmy Gwilt is not far behind him.

Rhys Stanley has the sixth longest career (6 games) without being defeated

Benny equal sixth on all time games before first loss with 14.

Trevor Barker leads the all time list for most games without a final.
Geoff Cunningham is second.

Nathan Burke and Stewart Loewe played in the same team 280 times. Fourth on the all time list.

Jason Gram has played in more winning Saints teams than Trevor Barker.

Great post. Agree entirely,

I think we are going to see McEvoy step up to another level now.

A rather useless stat that, considering Barks played in a very ordinary period of our club's history.

as I said in the other thread ...

the real hero?

take a look at the tape

the real hero is the player than blocked Skippers path and created the hole for McEvoy to run into

I shall give you a clue ... he is a very handy ruck / forward

Riewoldt's role should not be forgotten either. That centering kick leading to the ball up was under a lot of pressure and he got a lot on that ball kicking round the corner. Really would have tested the hammies.

It all would have been a lot simpler if the umpire had paid the free to Milne for in the back.
