Congrats..Adelaide Crows ............ !!
For having the ability and vision to produce yet another "CLASH GURNSEY" that actually does what the name suggests. If you are short of a quid perhaps you could offer up your designers as consultants to a couple of Victorian based clubs who have struggled to produce anything meaningful in this area !!
NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

Yep...Just when you thought Hawthorn couldn't produce a worse jumper than some of their previous efforts, here's the Kokoda jumper.SainterK wrote:stinger wrote:what was that monstrosity the hawks were wearing today.....and why quote]
It was their Kokoda jumper.
Awful jumper! Thank God it was a one-off.

Yes, I thought it looked prety smart too, and a zillion times better than most attempted clash jumpers.
I don't like the principle of designing any jumpers with representations of animals or objects etc on them. Jumpers should be like flags -- bold, clear graphic symbols -- not illustrations of something.
That's why I disagree with dcstkfc here. I reckon Collingwood has got its home and clash combo just about perfect. (MUCH AS I HATE TO SAY IT!)
I think if we kept our basic stripes the same (the front panels) and alternated the background from black to white, we'd have it right too.
I think ALL clubs should be as bloody-minded about their traditional strips, and their tradition-derived clash strips, as Collingwood and Essendon are. Once settled, there should be no favouritism re who wears what from then on.
But if you must stick something figurative on your jumper, well done Crows for doing a good job of it.
Didn't make me enjoy beating you all that much less.

I just can't understand how the AFL approved the Essendon clash jumper in the first place.
To expect St Kilda as the home team to change their jumpers because the away team can't produce a proper alternative strip is ridiculous.
Full credit to Adelaide. I wouldn't say I was a fan of what they were wearing but none of us can deny that it wasn't a proper clash strip.

I hate with a passion cartoon characters on football jumpers. Stylised Crows, Eagles, Hawks, whatever..they loook stupid IMO and im not sure they appeal to the kids any more than a traditional jumper. I love Ports new strip....they did away with all that silly lightning bolt nonsense and wear a football jumper...and who designed it? A primary school girl.
Clash strips are easy for some clubs. Us, Carlton, Bulldogs..we just wer a "negative" image of our home strip and it works well. If we ever put a cartoon Saint on the front of our jumper the Club wil be hearing from me. Its harder for some clubs. Much as I hate their bloody-mindedness, I can kinda understand where Essendon are coming from. Why should they wear white in their strip when it just turns them ioto St Kilda..especially if they are playing us?? remmeber all the hur and cry about our Yelloe Peril strip? Im sure one of the arguments was that yellow is not a St Kilda colour. Having said that, I totally agree that the solution is not to just make the "other" team change, just cos they can. Home game, home strip..end of story.

Can't agree. I'm in no way excusing Essendon or Collingwood, but I thought the Adelaide clash guernsey was hideous ... as are most predominantly-white jumpers. Would much have preferred to see them flashing about in their traditional colours -- when they play the Saints the so-called "clash" is particularly pleasing on the eye.
The aesthetics of our great game have been compromised by sales & marketing teams.
By the way, if we happen to play Collingwood in a final -- even a GF -- and we're the nominated "away" team, are we going to be forced to wear our clash guernesy?
Perish the thought.
Not that our clash jumper is the worst. But it could be better. And I'm not convinced we need one at all.

I'm no apologist for Collingwood, but they have both a predominately white and predominately black strip. When we are the home team they wear the white one, and there's no clash at all. When they are the home team we wear our white based strip, and again no clash.Waltzing St Kilda wrote:By the way, if we happen to play Collingwood in a final -- even a GF -- and we're the nominated "away" team, are we going to be forced to wear our clash guernesy?
No problem there that I can see.

No problem? Do you really want to see us run onto the MCG on GF day in our white-based strip? (Again, it's not the worst white-based strip in the league, but still ...) For that matter, can you imagine Carlton wearing their white-based strip in a GF? If we are the away team that day then yes. If we are the home team that day, then no. It's a pretty simple concept. If you are the home team, you get to play in your home strip, otherwise your away strip.Waltzing St Kilda wrote:No problem? If the Saints play in a winning GF in pink with polka dots, I couldn't give a flying fig.Waltzing St Kilda wrote:If those are the rules, then those are the rules. But I don't like the rules. I'm confident most supporters don't like the rules. The current obsession with clash strips is unnecessary.

I would suggest we would most likely will see Collingwood in their white with black stripes jumper. More worrying would be a clash with the Bombers in the big one because no matter which way it's negotiated, we will be wearing the clash jumper.Waltzing St Kilda wrote:By the way, if we happen to play Collingwood in a final -- even a GF -- and we're the nominated "away" team, are we going to be forced to wear our clash guernesy?

Before I start to explain I'm not sure I agree with the AFL that Geelong and Port Adelaide's jumpers clash however for the 2007 the AFL had Geelong wear white shorts with their mainly white socks to avoid the clash rather than the alternative option of having Port wear their clash strip.
At the end of the day, my thoughts are if we have to wear our clash strip in the GF, if we are playing in the Grand Final who cares if we are wearing yellow with purple polka dots, doubly so, if we win it!!

I'm sorry if teams playing in similar jumpers is aesthetic to you because you will never see it again, unless you throw the 1966 Prelim Final in your VCR. Nor should they be.
Watching my side run out in white jumpers is much better than seeing a member of your team turn the ball over to the opposition when it is obvious that he mistook them for a member of his team.

Agreed, if the League is to take over Australia as the administration hope, they need to get up to the standard of the NFL and Premier League on this issue.bozza1980 wrote:I can't disagree with you more.Waltzing St Kilda wrote:Can't agree.
