My next Saints jumper...

Post: # 915013Post Sainternist »

will have number 18 on the back.

Such a great number! Currently worn by Brendan "Jean-Luc" Goddard (Sorry, I refuse to refer to him as "BJ" ) and once worn by the great Kevin "Cowboy" Neil in '66.

Other favourites from the past include little Brett "Bowzer" Bowey back in 90's and Andrew "Mumbles" Manning in the 80's.

Any others you can think of to add to the 18 club?

Also, which number do you have on your newest St.Kilda jumper and why?

Hahahaha... Might have to change my mind on getting that number now. Number 8 seems tempting, since no one is currently wearing it. And it could be a good homage to Max.

Allan Morrow and Glen Elliott were pretty good for the saints, as well as Max.

No.3 is a good number for a Saints jumper. Previous favourites to wear it, Keith Rosewarne (for the real oldies on here) Ross Smith, Bruce Duperouzel, Nathan Burke, Xavier Clarke (briefly), and now young Jack.

It's easier to spell BJ

Number 7 for me. Winmar and Hayes. Always wore it when I played as a kid.

Brendon won the honour to be on my guernsey round 2. Whoever was best on ground was the big winner. He won the tele and the prized position on my back :)

My first jumper was about 10 years ago and i had # 35. As a young kid i just loved Harvey, i thought he was god how no one could ever just lay a tackle on him.

Throughout the years I've had # 2 ( Hamill ) and #14 ( Bally )
This year i got rid of my Bally one, bought a new jumper and wear # 11 with pride! :D

Number 10 has a rep for a few cult players.

Big Carl

Bakes

Will always have my tatty old 1995 #35 jumper for the rest of my life.

Glenn Elliott was a good player, then he deserted to the demons

I love it.

I think we need a thread where we all post pictures of our favourite jumpers and their stories.

Now that is a sight for sore eyes! SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL!

I also have an old woolen sleeveless, but's not that as vintage.

#10 is too a great number at St.Kilda. Big Carl, Spider and now Baker giving it credibility.

Neil Roberts won a Brownlow in the number ten, Pity his kid Michael also wore it.

Did Jeff Dunne wear 8 after wearing 48?

Great to see the nickname "Jean-Luc" being used for brendan.

I made it up in his first year. It's more interesting than BJ!

can't forget the mighty Bowser Bowey!

used to love Grant Thomas dashing out of centre half back!

Also mentioned was Jeff Dunne (48). Loved him!

Noticed someone with an 18 on the back last night. It stood out to me and was saying to my son that you don't see too many of them...considering what a star BJ is.

My 14 year old still has a Harvey 35 jumper. We bought when the had the Harvey tribute in 07 at the 351 game...he was selected to be on the ground for the run out and decided to put Harvey's name and number on his brand new jumper in honour. He still loves it and it still fits.

My 2 year old has Luke Ball's old 14 on his jumper, though we now say this is Jarryn Geary. I would like to get Geary to sign it to make it clear that its a Geary jumper now and not a Ball jumper. He will grow out of it this year and we will need a new number for him next year. He is in love with Nick Riewoldt, and we've had to explain the injury to him at a two year old level. The week of the injury he was walking round the house clutching the back of his leg having seen it a million times on TV. He's taken quite an interest in BJ the last few weeks so 18 might be a big chance.

I came this close to buying one with 7 on the back earlier this year. Other recent candidates have been 8, 19 and 35 (I've always worn 23)

I think Stuart Trott also wore number 7.

Sorry for being pedantic, but Neale not Neil. Just out of respect for the man who kicked 5 in our only Premiership.
