Official Saints Injury LIES for Round 3

Post: # 901496Post bergholt »

These just get better and better. Check the Saints site for the official injury list:

http://www.saints.com.au/injuries/tabid ... fault.aspx
Raphael Clarke - grade 1 hamstring, to be assessed
Robert Eddy - ankle arthroscope, to be assessed
Sam Fisher - ankle arthroscope, to be assessed
Luke Miles - stress fracture fibula, to be assessed
Jesse Smith - ankle, to be assessed
Jack Steven - sprained mid foot, to be assessed
Here's my take on these:

Raph Clarke is still being assessed despite having played the last two weeks at Sandy - very cautious of the medical staff.

Robert Eddy is still being assessed despite playing for Sandy last week and having been the emergency for the senior team for the last two weeks. Borderline irresponsible to name him as emergency TWICE if they're not sure of his fitness.

Sam Fisher has missed a couple of weeks and will probably miss three more, on the original estimates, but they're assessing him now. I'm happy with this lie as he's an important player and will affect the planning of opposition clubs.

Luke Miles hasn't played the last two weeks and has just worked his way onto the injury list. Better late than never. Shame for the kid, though, stress fractures can drag on and he needs to cement a spot this year.

Jesse Smith hasn't played for the club yet and they have no idea when he could play. Fine.

Jack Steven has now missed six weeks with his foot thing and I'm sure all supporters are interested in knowing when he'll get back up and running. No info on that, though, just a "TBA".

So who's not on the list?

Nicholas Winmar hasn't played for the club and has now missed at least seven weeks with his injury. Whatever it is. Surely supporters should get to know what's happening with last year's top draft pick?

Sean Dempster played one NAB cup match and hasn't played in the five weeks since. He's really out of favour with Ross, judging from the fact that he's not on the injury list.

Mark Hutchings, Tom Simpkin and Blake McGrath appear to be missing in action, but who knows? Maybe they'll all play for Sandy reserves this week. Or maybe they're injured. Any information about them would be nice - Simpkin especially, as he was showing something last year.

Overall, the Sam Fisher lie is justified, the rest are crap. Put em on the list and keep em there until they get on the field. How hard can it be?

Is this going to be a regular post each week?

I look forward to writing "Crymore" twenty odd more times.

nah, but for a while it might continue. there are those who don't read the board every day but want to know the injuries - i think it's kinda useful for them.

I agree with you Bergholt. I used to keep an eye on our injury lists all the time. Now I don't even bother. Get more info from ppl who know players or watch training that post on here. It p!sses me off. I'm sure by telling the world what the injury is to Winmar and a few other young players isn't going to destabilise our campaign too much. And listing players as injured when they have been playing games of footy makes our club look stupid and unprofessional.

I agree with Bergholt too. Members deserve to know the status of players. A little too much smoke and mirrors for my liking.

Ross Lyon has already publically said that Fisher's injury will rule him out till at least Round 5.

So if Lyon is happy to put that on the record why can't the club put that in it's official injury list? Are they too lazy?

Every other club makes an effort to keep their fans informed. Surely the Saints can do better than they do.

Some of us are interested in how long our injured players are expected to be on the sidelines.

I don't think we are asking a lot to have the club provide an estimate for our benefit.

Really pisses me off.....I like to think forward....and look at the progress of young players...I am not sure they are even training or playing...if not, why??

I like to go and watch Sandy...I don't want to if 4 saints players are playing....and I find out after driving 40 minutes

I still can't see how misleading the football world about the injury status of our second and third stringers is going to give us any sort of an edge in any future game.

The continuing appearance of Eddy and Clarke on this list makes me feel that there is some sort of communication problem within the club that means that this information doesn't get updated regularly enough.

But who really knows?

It's a joke and I don't find it funny. It just makes them look like a bunch of "tossers". I would imagine that the other clubs would be well aware of any major injuries that they would be interested in, so the only ones really being kept in the dark are us. The ones paying the bills and supporting them.
Makes a lot of sense.

Luke Miles is actually on the LONG TERM injury list. So, clearly, he has already been "assessed".

But most other clubs aren't in the same league as ours.

I'm happy provided we keep winning, that is what really matters...

So you'd rather they only 'lie' sometimes?.... Wouldn't that be even more confusing for the fans?... at least as it stands you know the official injury list is a total work of fiction.

I'm with Bergholt too. Does anyone really think in this day and age, clubs don't have intelligence on their upcoming opponents' levels of fitness? If Nick Dal Santo stubbed his little toe in the shower this morning Malthouse would have known by 10am. The only people being put out by this persistent misinformation campaign are the fans.

How could this be lies or misinformation? I am sure all the players are being assessed as it says, or do you believe that they are NOT being assessed?

FGS some of you people have an overinflated sense of entitlement.

Complain to the club instead of this weekly sook. You sound like children denied their lollies

Maybe, but it keeps happening and is unlikely to change.

You like many others have suggested the other clubs all know, so maybe those who really feel a need to have this info should, on a weekly basis, contact our upcoming opponents. They should surely be happy to make this info public, and in doing so, stick it to the Saints.

Spot on.

Get over yourselves. No one cares what you think.

The injury list is what it is. Deal with it.

Suck it up and stop being so precious.

The day that you can prove that we are further away from a flag because of the descriptions on the injury list is the day that I will join you in your sooking.

Seriously....Get over yourselves.

Maybe the club is too concerned about winning games to find the time to update things?

Maybe they should be less concerned with winning.
