Who would you like to see step up as a leader?

Post: # 856956Post SainterK »

To replace Max and Luke's positions in the leadership group?

Reward Dal for stepping up when required, someone like Blake for his consistency and work ethic?

I think Sam Fisher for the defensive group.

Leigh Montagna for the midfield group.

Do we need a leadership group as far as I can tell there are too many champions for one leadership group. I propose several groups. The second-level group will have the Frenchman (Farren Ray) in total control.

Could McQualter be an outside chance??

Often see him barking orders on the field and was a great junior captain so has it in him...

Would be interesting to see if Grant Thomas's theory of stepping up when handed the leadership would work on him. Would be great to see him take that next step and compete with Armo for the midfield spot that Bally has left

Yep, McQualter to me looks a leader, just by watching him talk on the ground.

Joey is a better player, but not all good players make good leaders.

I feel Mini would be a better leader than Joey

I like the idea of Goddard in the Leadership Group as we need to keep on promoting leadership within the group, especially amongst the younger players.

Some may howl me down but Raph Clarke appears to have a whole lot more internal admiration at the club than he gets on here. Who knows, the players might vote him on to the leadership group. I'd love to see him get the gig.

There were also big raps on McEvoy & Steven for their leadership qualities when they got to the club. They would first need to establish themselves in the side but I hope & trust that the club is nurturing these leadership qualities !!

I am unsure it's about stepping up, it's more about if you have leadership qualities...

Doesn't anyone else think Blake has leadership written all over him?

He is a perfect example of a good work ethic, the ability to balance life and footy, and I am sure I read that he has already mentored some of the younger players?

His nickname in Neil (after Neil Armstrong) because he was considered to be a 'space cadet'.

Jason Blake will be a great addition to the leadership group as I believe he will be added in the coming weeks along with Sam Fisher.

Eddy because hes very well respected by the coaches

No seriously I'd think Goddard would be very well suited and needs to be added now. If nothing else he has shown great loyalty & devotion to the club and plays with passion that we need. I also think the struggle he fought being #1 pick and trying too hard early on has a lot of good messages to pass onto the younger players in that regard. He mentioned he had discussed such expectations with Armo. It seems a natural next step now to be recognised. There should also be plenty of upside to the role - the berating of teammates, the internal focus. Little rough edges to smooth over along the journey.

I think Jason Blake is a great leader and for that reason I don't think he needs to be in the leadership group. One of my old signatures said "You don't have to be a captain to be a leader."

I think it is a question of how leadership will impact on your performance. I don't think Blake needs that motivation. I would be very happy if he was in the leadership group but it wouldn't surprise me if Zac is given the nod, even though I initially nominated Sam Fisher.

there's merit. If you think about it they are two of the hardest workers in the comp on the training track.
CJ is believed to be one of the best taggers in the league and his actions do the talking. I wouldn't want to change that about his character in him being a leader but the future of him in that role is seemingly bombproof. Look what it has done for Lenny.
Alternatively what you also need is a talker. Both NDS and BJ can fill the role of The Communicator as can Sam Fisher.
I reckon more than anyone though the young fellas listen to Joey.
