Leon Davis - ???

Post: # 845799Post thirty-seven!? »

I have this gut feel that we may end up with him today - straight swap for Ball??

A lot of talk/ rumors about it on SEN... Enough people calling up and messaging in this same rumor has made them start running with it...

Wat would we think of it if it were to happen??? Personally i'm a bit indifferent - his finals form worries me

I would love him.

But I would have preferred Luke Ball to work his way back into our best 18.

Heard the same thing. Kevin Bartlett seems to think there is something
in it.

It wouldn't be the worst outcome for us. i know Davis' form was very poor in the finals but if we can squeeze some different attitude out of him and
get him somewhere near his best again it would be a big +

At his best he is a very dangerous forward. he has kicked some beauties
against us.

it would put pressure on milney to perform as well.

In: Davis

Out: Milne

I'll take it. Davis is more than a 1 trick pony... and can play midfield.

He can take a pretty good mark/speccie too, unlike out other small forwards who are purely crumbers...

If we get Leon, surely Schneider or Leon would play a more midfield based roll?.

Lovett, Leon, Milne, Schneider. Leon played in the middle and up forward this year.

Add him to our other pick ups and we become frighteningly quick.

I'd take it, but thought he wanted to go west?

Disagree Leons form is to hot and cold and his finals form was very ordinary . I still think Ball and And draft pick or ball and a player for fev is the way to go .

Your last point would be an important one to consider for the club Mark.

Considering his form, it would make no sense to get him if he didn't want to
come to us.

I wouldn't mind this.... seems like we might lose ball for nothing or some useless pick otherwise.

He's 28... So right in the age bracket we are seemingly looking for! :)

Looking back over his previous years, i noticed his 2008 finals series, and all the games building up to then, was actually quite good (until getting dominated by Clint Jones)

I'd rather send him to Melbourne than take Davis. You don't want to be playing Collingwood in a prelim and have Luke Ball getting 30 touches whilst Davis sits in the pocket doing nothing.

Unless it's a quality player I'd let him go.

Not sure...I watched the grand final replay the other week, when Brisbane won their third in a row against Collingwood. A younger Leon Davis was being highlighted for his poor finals form back then. I am not sure he can ever get better come September, as long as people are ok with that?

I don't know about this one... for a club trying to take that final step, picking up a footballer who is notoriously bad in September isn't the greatest move I wouldn't have thought.

And for that reason, I don't think it will happen.

I could live with that trade no worries at all.

However, I still reckon Ball has made a massive mistake though. Why, why, why??? After all the work and time and effort he's put in, and he's going where???....and for what???? Very disappointed.

Should we really be worried about getting nothing for him? At least, if Ball goes into the PSD we gain some more room in the cap for future negotiations, and by announcing he's off, he's given us a chance to replace him twice over...who would suffer if he went without an immediate gain?

Better than paying money for Davis IMO.

I'd be rapt with Davis.

I'm not big on finals form- he is still the same talented player and you get the ball in his hands and he'll do something.

Davis plays for himself, a typical Collingwood show pony.
A downhill skier.
I would rather have Ball back.
I would prefer a stoppage player who can't ski to a downhill skier.

But if Davis is on the table Collingwood may get decent draft picks for him that they can trade for Ball.
Th problem then is can St Kilda get something with those trades before 2PM.

Leon and Lovett in the same team, will give us genuine pace forward of centre as well as scoreboard presure from the fifty arc which I think we really need. Great forward options to take the pressure of ROO and Kosi and may make Roo more dangerous as he may not be the "go-to" man every time we go forward.

Adds some unpredictability to our team.

I'd be happy with that trade.

IF It is to be it is up to me.

Well we still keep picking Milne in September.
