Straight swap: Fraser-Ball

Post: # 845369Post saintpeter »

This is being discussed on Bigfooty trade forum.

Don't shoot the messenger.

I know Fraser is not rated highly by saints fans.

I rated him very highly in his early career. I have followed footy (andthe saints) since 1963 and played a bit for Lalor as a kid in the Diamond Valley League but I am not as footy smart as many posters on this forum. But, I will would still like to give an opinion, for what it is worth.

Very mobile for a big man. Watched him live in a game in Canberra (2002?) and was, to be honest, amazed by his skills as a 203 cm ruckman. Also, have always liked his attitude...modest sort of a bloke.

He has not lived up to his potential as a number 1 draft pick. That is very true.

Never rated him as a ruckman. Seems to lack the body strength. But can take a pack mark and kick goals.

Don't know his price tag. If he was appropriately priced, one year contract. What do you think. Come Friday, may be all we get for Ball. A balding underachiever who I think could blossum at a supporting club where h is not a major focus.

Rational discussion please..pros and cons. And please be gentle with me.

he's a dud, had a pie supporter tell me at the start of the week b4 ball wanted to go to the pies, fraser free to good home

if we give ball to the pies for him its a discrace, send him to melbourne, dont give collingwood a leg up anywhere.

Dale Thomas would be a better fit if we are looking for a straight swap.

He's fast and creative, which seems to fit RL's trading plan this year (Lovett, to a lesser extent Peake).

Not so interested in Fraser, age must be becoming a factor too...

I will be very happy if we could come out of this with Thomas.

Thomas would be better, but will the filth agree to that.

What I am saying is that worst outcome (other than nothing and Ball goes into the PSD) we get Fraser. What would we do with him

Don't know much about Fraser than from games where we've played Collingwood, but I'm guessing he would be a backup ruckman (no room in the forward line for him) and nothing more. Would be behind Gardiner and King, probably McEvoy too.

Fraser is useless for us...takes up a spot on the list and salary for next to no benefit.

Filth will never part with Thomas.

He is their bItch who takes it from the whole team and they dont want to go back to BItchslap as their root.

We may have to settle for a GOP for GOP trade...

We traded a No. 5 drafted player for pick 60 so we're easily persuaded... i wouldn't expect too much for Ball...he can't kick....

The list changes for 2025 have begun, always an interesting time for an avid supporter.
