These are some of the players that have been taken with pick 16 over the last 12 years

1997- Ben Wolton
1998- Brett Burton
1999- David Haynes
2000- Scott Thompson
2001- Rick Ladson
2002- Stephan Gilham
2003- Josh Willoughby
2004- Adam Pattison
2005- Richard Douglas
2006- Mitchell Brown
2007- Matthew Lobbe
2008- Ryan Schoenmakers

there have been some decent players taken with this pick over the last 12 years and some duds...

Scott Thompson is a gun of the highest order. Brett Burton isn't a bad footballer! Brown, Lobbe & Schoenmakers are all showing signs of development, particularly Mitch Brown!

Brett Burton and Scott Thompson "very very average"? Scott Thompson just got 11 votes in the Brownlow medal last week, after coming equal 12th last year and 9th the year before that, while Burton has been exhilerating the fans of this game for years. I hope you were kidding!

Yeah he's good. Thought it was the NM guy. Burton is pretty good too. So Adelaide did best

Saints have already stated that they wont necessarily be recruiting "best available" at out pick, but rather target several players whom we are more confident of snagging. I assume this means targeting a particular position, which I hope is a fast outside midfielder (the KPP in this draft are not great and we got plenty last year).

This pick has a history of throwing up some smokies, and i wouldnt be surprised if this happened this year with us.

He aint really a good one either... he's one of those players who has never really made it... but he aint bad enough to delist or trade. He is the epitome of a GOP

Yeah all of those pick 16s were in uncompromised drafts.
This time pick 16 only gets to select from kids born 1 May 1991 to 31 December 1991.
Kids born from 1 Jan 1992 to 30 April 1992 can only be signed by Gold Coast
Kids born from 1 Jan 1991 to 30 April 1991 were available in last years national dtraft.
Relaistically we have pick 24 in a normal draft

Pick 24 in uncompromised drafts
1997 James Wasley (Co)
1998 David Wojcinski (Ge)
1999 Jason Blake (StK)
2000 Luke Ablett (Sy)
2001 Steve Johnson (Ge)
2002 Paul Johnson (WC)
2003 Chad Jones (NM)
2004 Nathan Van Berlo (Ad)
2005 Cleve Hughes (Ri)
2006 Brent Renouf (Ha)
2007 Clayton Hinkley (Fr)
2008 Nick Suban (Fr)
Pick 16, 2009 Pig in a Poke (StK)

I agree, some good players on the pick 24 list. Cant work out exactly how the pick 24 comparison is at all relevant though. What is the calculation used to come up with 16 being equal to 24 in this years draft??

Maybe this year?
