Do that crappy grubber kick in the 2nd qtr. After watching the replay for the first time just then it is clear that he just dropped the ball wrong in the slippery conditions like many other did aswell.

yes. Unless we can find another 40+ goal kicking small forward. He may of played a poor final series but he still played a big part in getting us into the position we were in.

I'd be happy to find a small fwd who only kicks 20 goals, but can do it in a final.

Funny how we wondered how we'd cope after Gtrain left... or even after Plugger left. Let alone Rob Harvey.

Milne is dispensible. No question about it.

Milne. Is a dumb footballer plain and simple.

I have defended and defended this guy for a number of years.

If we trade him, we trade him.

Serious underperformer in finals, there is no denying that.

Coaches will make the call.

He'll be shattered.

I hope it motivates him to be better.

That's his challenge.

Simply a miss-kick, is that a kick by a girl?

I keep hearing about this Schnieder free kick but all I can remember from the game is his shocking miss in the first quarter, his bad miss in the last (albiet after a quality shimmy) and some diving for frees in between.

If the umpire did miss a blatent free kick I'm not sure Schnieds didn't bring it on himself with a boy-who-cried-wolf routine.

His performance in the North game probably did him no favours.

Milne lacks vision. Really good footballers can still see things unfolding around them under pressure whereas Milne goes into a kind of blinding-frenzy which is why you see him try to play on in ridiculous situations and attempt things that are never on. His mind is continually racing, he struggles to think and see clearly on the park.

You need to be selfish to an extent as a forward and his whole career he's been one-dimensional. Now he's being asked to do a lot more and think a lot more.

He's still learning and improving. No doubt he's a much improved player under Ross and All-Australian nomination is testament.

Ah give Milne a break, it was a miskick, he slipped sort of when he kicked it, maybe wasn't wearing the studded boots, if it wasnt wet, he would of ran to the goal square, but probably was too nervous to just touch it on the ground.

He just needs to go back to square one, and learn how to kick a goal from a set shot, thats his weak point, really needs to fix his set shots for goal.

I mean, even Schnider had missed soo many times, yet everyone wants to blame Milne? All of schniders were possible, especially the last quarter bork he did probably 40m out. (Oh and yes I think everyone couldnt believe how he didnt get a free in that last quarter, if it was Ablett...)

McQualter missed a sitter, Dempster missed, J.Gram went for a pot shot when he could of poped it out in from for one of our players who was out/in the clear.

The guy was in the All-Australian squad, and had his best season of footy.

The question mark is justified about his performance in finals. He was in the right spots yesterday, and his pressure was fantastic.

Straight kicking, and we would have been lauding Milney as the difference between the two sides, and putting him in our votes.

So it's not like he was far off playing a very good game.

At the end of the day, it's tough to find proven goalkickers. I would stick with Milne for next year, but I would encourage some pressure on his spot from Armitage/Steven ... see if they can step up.

Put it this way -- if we find ourselves without Milne in our best 22 next year, we will be so far and above the premiers because we can afford to have one of the best 40 players in the comp on the sidelines.

He had a howler but the poor little bugger must be hurting. The article by Robbo in the Herald Sun spoke about how badly he was taking it.

There's no doubt he'll cop his fair whack from this game but the conditions couldn't have been worse for him.

Had Mini finished off that open shot in the second quarter at least he'd have a goal assist to his name - and a pretty important one too - maybe as important as Varcoe's handball to Chapman in the last.

As utterly useless as Milne is in finals series, how do you replace him? Can't in the short term.

Probably have to keep him.

yeah well he was clearly held of the ball for a few seconds and the umpire was looking right at it. That umpire should never umpire again.

Am amazed that people are suggesting that we trade Milne. The most productive small forward of the past five years and some of you want to get rid of him!!!!!
I'm sure no-one is more disappointed in his GF showing than himself. Needs the opportunity to redeem himself.
