We threw it away. Had all of the play, led for most of the day, just missed 5 or 6 easy shots on goal. Schneider, Milne, McQualter...god damn.

Gutted. That's the exact word for what I'm feeling.
I turned the TV over as soon as the Geelong ferals started singing their song, and now I'm sitting here totally stunned. Don't know what to think, don't know what to do. I feel like crying but I'm too numb even for tears. Someone tell me: what do I do now?

Poor kicking skills will never win us any game. Although I'm shattered we lost I'm still happy for the club for their fantastic work in Season 2009. Bring on next year

There were many things that happened today, so don't start on one player

Please don't portion blame, please don't personal attacks in the heat of the moment....

I love the boys, I cannot imagine how they are feeling....

As Nick said, they need to bottle this feeling, and come back bigger better and stronger next year.

I am crying, but I still love the Saints...ALWAYS WILL!!!!

Thank God cricket season starts next weekend. At the moment I don't want to think about this cruel damn sport until sometime around February.

Whilst I'm gutted ...............

before anyone bags any of our players, consider if you were in their position, could you have done better?

I doubt it!

But I also suspect and think our players know they can do better ............. I've waited since '66 so one more year won't matter that much ............ also one less hangover!

PS: yes it does hurt!

Was there on the outer wing as a youngster flying the flag in '66 - still loyal, still passionate!

All goals that these guys would usually slot, I guess the pressure of the situation. Well done on a great year Saints.

There's something wrong with us St Kilda supporters. Year after year it's heartbreak. And year after year we keep coming back. This year might not have been our year but one day it will be and finally all this will be worth it.

Hear, hear.
What we are feeling can only be the tip of the iceberg for OUR boys.
I love the boys too. Every single one of them. And I will ALWAYS love the Saints!

no, i thought geelong's experience showed through. only one of their guys hadn't played in a grand final, that had to count for something. also, from a purely objective perspective, the clinton jones effort on the wing was the seminal moment in the last quarter. no right foot, the ball turned over, ablett was where jones wasn't ...

We have 3 players on the back line who seem to have very poor awareness at times, Clarke, Dawson and Blake. Clarke never seems to get out of first gear when he is running often being caught or turning it over plus Dawson can make the most stupid decisions when he has taken a mark while Blake often handballs to one of our players who is covered. Don't give me that bull about missing goals because of the pressure. we missed at least 5 goals from less than 30 metres out when players were running into open goals with no one near them.
Though it was a great effort throughout the year this is one flag we should never have lost. By the way could someone let Lyon know that Chapman is a very dangerous player and should be manned up all the time. I think Max would have kept him honest but what's the good of complaining, it's all over now so let's hope we go one better next year.
