I thought some of the work he did in the second qtr turned the game. He was a big part of us turning the clearances around...was impressed.

Good to have the 2 ruckmen out there in September, I think it was hard work for Josh Fraser basically on his own today.

Kingy had that one clanger that turned into a goal, but otherwise very solid for mine.

For me he was just average. Gardy's game was in a different league. Personally, I would like to see McEvoy take his place.

Big body is very important, one of a hand full of ruckman in the league who can stand and compete all day at the same level as he doesnt rely on athleticism etc. Doesnt do much around the ground though and this makes it hard to say he was good.

How bad is his shoulder anyone know??

My big query on him is his ability to chase. Not sure if it is laziness or simply not a very quick man. But one that stood out for me was roccas goal. King should have made the contest and did not. Just trying to work out if his actual ruckwork, makes up for his lack of work around the ground.

Thought he was very good.

Saints fans tend to underrate his performance ... but take him out of there and you will notice a big difference.

Having the big hard body that holds his ground in the middle in September is vital.

And don't forget that half the reason Gardiner can play so well is because of the time King can spend in the ruck ...

Have been concerned with King's form the last few weeks, but thought he was very good today.

You cant put a value on hardened finals experience imo

Our rucks killed Fraser in the hitouts. They gave our midfielders first use of the ball with many clear takeaways.
They did what rucks are meant to do.

Fraser may have run off King, who could not keep up, a few times.
But Fraser soon tired having to go solo against our two.

When it came to the primary role of a ruckman our guys ruled supreme.

Gardy obviously the better when fit but King still an integral part of the side. Regardless what the the G.T. disciples say.

Agreed. Haven't been a huge fan, but I will admit - we need him. I wouldn't change a single player that played today.

Did some very clever things, very cool and showed his experience. That turnover was a bit of a brain fade unfortunately, should have dished off to Joey rather than thread a near impossible pass for someone of his ability.

Bit harsh i thought he was very good today and even laid a very hard holding the ball tackle on a smaller guy. Big body and makes space which McEvoy cannot do yet.

Gardiner 8/10

King 6.5/10

Gardy's tap work was brilliant today and Kingy did help get us going in the 2nd quarter.

His ruckwork is far superior to Ben's and under estimated. Agreed - Happier when he gives it off by hand and doesn't get to cute. We need him.
