I knew I should have stayed home

Post: # 797634Post SaintDebi »

Well, its been the week from Hell, guys.
Everything I touch turns to crap.
All since Thursday:
1) Daughter who is suddenly unemployed finds her new "dream job": selling grossly overpriced vacuum cleaners door to door, and of course in all her teenage wisdom, totally brainwashed by the company into thinking she's doing the community a service by aquainting them with this thouroughly super machine that's just going to sell itself.
2) same daughter driving home from training from said job is hit by an uninsured driver who came out of a side street into traffic when he couldn't see after supposedly being waved through by another unidentified driver. Exchanges names and addresses, admits to fault at the scene, but of course recalls things differently when contacted by daughter's insurance company
3) same daughter now without a car borrows one of our remaining two. Phones home to say "car's stopped. Won't go". Couldn't be a simple battery, could it? No, of course not. For some reason the engine has siezed, and the first two quotes to fix it were $5000, then $4000. We have now got that down to "maybe closer to $2000, depending what we find".
4) second daughter's boyfriend turns out to house fire where it turns out a number of lives, including children are lost. Too, too sad. His first fatal firecall. Hard to deal with.

I said before the game that with the luck around me I should stay home today.
So sorry everyone. My fault. If anybody brought the boys bad luck today it was probably me.
I knew I should have stayed at home.

Things are about to turn positive Debi.

Chin up.

And nasty, nasty call on the young bloke's fire call. Poor bugger.

Debi

Sorry to hear about your week from hell.

It's very tough to cope when everything seems to pile upon itself.

I wish everyone in your family all the best.

Yes it would be, incredibly so. Hard s*** to deal with, that sort of thing.

At least the rest is only money or footy...

Hell Deb, they can get much worse - we could lose next week, then lose to Melbourne and then go out in straight sets in the finals.

Bloody hell, it can get heaps worse.

Seriously, things are gonna get better for all of us, starting NOW!

Debi, loss of life is a terrible thing, but it is so much worse when it involves children. :( I hope he has someone he can talk to at work if help dealing with it.

Remember, good things always follow the bad. Sending lots of positive vibes your way.

I haven't heard any media reports yet, but it would probably be the one. He's with the Drysdale brigade, and the fire was in the outer Geelong suburb of Clifton Springs.

Puts a game of footy in perspective, doesn't it?
Em (my daughter) is also a CFA volunteer although at a different Brigade. It means she has a good understanding of what he might be feeling and makes her a good sounding board for him. He also has a supportive family from what I can tell, so thats good.
And of course the CFA provide a psychologist or psychiatrist for councilling and debriefing.
He was part of the first BA crew in there so he's feeling pretty bad about not being able to find anybody in there, and he's had to go over it a number of times already with the coroner.
Positive vibes appreciated.
