Saints Best 22.......

Post: # 794669Post Number 5 »

Hi all, I'm a long time reader, small time poster, BUT, it's been at least 2 weeks since the last time anyone put up their best 22.
Since the Hawks game, it would be interesting to see what everyone else thinks....
This is the team I would like to see playing on the last day of the year.

HB: Gilbert, Fisher, Goddard
C: Gram, Hayes, Ray
HF: Schnider, Roo, Dal

You are at least 90% correct!! I'll pick my final 25 (AFL willing) for the first final at 4pm on Thursday 3rd September. I'll narrow it down to 22, 24 hours later.

No king?
Even though he hasnt set the world on fire this year, Id rather have his experience out there instead of Ben.

I think that Big Mc has a bit more to offer us.
He's a bit more versatile.
Can play forward and take the big grab.

It's an interesting team, especially from a poster who joined 2 days after this new forum was created and has 13 posts - 2 of them in this thread.

I find that passionate and worthy of listening to.

Dont make any suggestions though because people will jump on you before you hit the post button. Any name mentioned shall be defended with terms like 'whipping boy'. It is a hard choice no doubt and the decision probably won't satisfy everyone.

Interesting views re King and Mac E.

Whilst Mac has been playing well, when it comes to finals, you need to ask how he'll cope if and when the blowtorch is applied to him.

At his best, he'll give you a good performance.

At his best, King will give you an outstanding performance, which will handle the heat of finals. As was the case in 07.

Hence, I believe the preferred ruck duo will be King / Gardiner.

Big Mac will have his day.

I agree that I would go with King.

He proved himself IMO when he got his dislocated shoulder put back in against Sydney and returned to the field, and then backed it up by playing the following week....if anyone deserved a break for a "niggle"

Showed me two things, he is tough, and he is passionate about winning

Maybe Joey isn't in our best side?

I reckon you are very very close. The main issue will be Mac v King. I also reckon Raph will be in for sure (at the expense of Dempster or Blake).

King gets the nod ahead of Big Ben IMO. I also prefer Dempster to Raph.
