Did lenny get another one?
Foxtel terrible coverage but I think it was Lenny who got O'Keefe in the ribs with another great attack on the ball and player.
Wake me up when September ends.
Hayes pretty quiet tonight. Bet he still got 20 odd touches though.

Yep i'm pretty sure it was him that got him.AlpineStars wrote:Foxtel terrible coverage but I think it was Lenny who got O'Keefe in the ribs with another great attack on the ball and player.
Boy i'd hate to have the ball near him, even that tackle on Goodes in the 4th quarter was brutal.
He did an awesome tackle on Goodes I think. Just dropped the shoulder into him stopping him dead in his tracks and almost lifted him off the ground.

He wasn't shocking, he still ran and tackled etc. Does anyone know how many touches he got?BigMart wrote:One of the worst games he has ever played.....and as a result we were vulnerable.....shows you how important he is.......and what is generally expected from him.....
Tackling aside, he was totally ineffective.

It wont go unnoticed by other clubs- you stop Hayes and you stop the REAL prime mover. Happened in last year finals also - its why Ball MUST find another gear, some run/carry and give Lenny a chop out.
Still 20 odd touches and some important tackles just shows the work rate of this bloke - hes class.

iwill have another look....AlpineStars wrote:stinger wrote:lenny crap tonight????...crap...have another look......and it was gwilt who got o'keefe..i think....
It wasn't Gwilt unless there was another incident,
Lenny may have been quiet but so was his direct oponent Brett Kirk (did nothing).
.everybody still loves lenny....and we always will

Raph took another on and won- that's almost one per week he works over.. if in the last few seconds it was Raph near the boudary line then he went to the next contest and got the ball over the line.

he's been doing it all year. 38 hitouts is an average of 2.2 per game, though this 7 is his biggest.rodgerfox wrote:I wonder why our best clearance player was playing that role?Iceman234 wrote:17 possessions, 3 marks, 7 hitouts as third man up obviously, 7 tackles, but gave away 4 frees.
If that's his worst game ever, on an oval the size of a postage stamp, I'll take it.
I found it wierd.
got a bit of height and as our best clearance player is in a good position to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, i guess.

Post match coaching/media comments mention Lenny's move outside to start the second half dragging Kirk with him to negate his impact in the middle where the Saints were being seriously challenged and at times beaten. Lenny ended up with more touches than Kirk (17 to 10), Kirk laid 1 more tackle and Lenny gave away some frees but they were pretty much all petty over shoulder or in the back from tackles. This move allowed Gram and Dal more room in the middle and this was instrumental in setting up 3rd qtr goals.Teflon wrote:Thats my concern.BigMart wrote:One of the worst games he has ever played.....and as a result we were vulnerable.....shows you how important he is.......and what is generally expected from him.....

Thankfully Sydney has personnel and a style that they play on a tight ground that others in the competition don't so that ability to stop Lenny and dictate terms in the middle is not as 'easily' done.
I thought Lenny did well all things considered and suggesting it was his worst game is ridiculous and while the team played below their best they perservered and had the depth and composure needed to win.
Graceful, elusive, strong overhead and no Easybeat!

Anyone else notice, he seems to have changed (or added) to his tackling style.
Very noticable going in low with his body to hit the opponent on some occasions..
One commentator mentioned it aganist the Dogs, as it almost did Johnston's knee.
Hard to imagine , but at this stage in his career, he is still improving, modifying his game !!
