Assuming my Gran was still with us , that would be a very tempting offer to sell her for a flag ,, but at the expense of never winning another. Your kidding arent you .

oh , and as much as i loved my gran , she was a dyed in the wool , one eyed , raised in the suburb , knew everything Collingwood supporter.

the OP's deal was You get the Premiership Flag, but never again.

My deal was , you sell your soul and/or Grandmother to the devil for the Flag. This would not preclude further flags, and presumably you can sell other key parts of your self and family to said Beelzebub.

.....from a personal point of view........given my soul was destroyed on the 28th of April 1979 at Victoria Park (look it up if you werent there)........it would be a great deal (although the devil may not accept such a damaged item)

I must admit to a bit of mischievious motivation for the OP. The answers show just how much Sainters care about future generations and how unselfish they are (despite every reason to grab that ONE flag for themselves!) Good onya everyone!

I prefer to think of that day as one of "character building" rather than "soul destroying".

ahh snoopygirl......did a fair bit of character building in '79.....and '80, '81 etc etc.

It got to the point that day.....all you could do was laugh...........

Which is a great trait of Saints supporters, no matter how dark it gets...we can still laugh.

Well i'm sure my old man thought that in 1966 and nothing has happened yet. I'm to old to wait another 43 years and my old man is now 73 so for his sake I will take this year if it never means another flag. Also my Daughter is old enough to remember this one even if it is the last.

but to the OP...... yes very tempting to have such a "Faustian" bargain.....

but on reflection the answer is no..... but Plugger's reason - for his aged father - is a good one.....

.....if it is to be this year then I for one will remember some of the Great Sainters who have gone up to the sky in the last few years with particular reverence who will miss the day (seem to remember some moving posts on here around a year or so back.....)
