Just saw that too... hopefully the club can release a statement as to WHY he is out and WHAT is wrong with him!

If injured, im VERY glad they have made the move!

Not even named as emergency... one would therefore suspect he's injured

Best news would be that he is dropped....Worst case would be that he is injured.

Maybe this will see McQualter pushed more into the midfield like we saw last week, and allowing Eddy to fulfill McQ's role from earlier in the year as a high-pressuring small forward

strange week to drop him if its to to regain form in the reserves, since sandringham have a bye.

Where does that come from?

If he was named in the initial squad and he is not selected in the 22, he is an emergency. Unless they have published a new team with someone taking his place.

Edit: Just checked AFL site and Geary has magically appeared on the emergency list.

And Sandringham don't play this week so we may never know if he was dropped, rested or injured.

Geary is named as an emergency now

FFS

EVERY SECOND POST ON THIS SITE FOR THE PAST TWO WEEKS HAS BEEN TO REST PLAYERS AND PLAYER MANAGEMENT AND MAKING SURE WE'RE RIGHT FOR THE FINALS

WE FINALLY REST A PLAYER WHO IS STRUGGLING WITH FITNESS AND FORM AND SUDDENLY IT'S ALL "WTF DROPPING BALL DUMBASS COACHES"

I mean, for real. Ball needs a rest. You've been calling for this all year.

He'll be back in the mix before finals, we need him to be.

Yeah, thats my point...

Team looks like:

ST KILDA v ADELAIDE
St Kilda
B: Jason Blake, Sam Gilbert, Zac Dawson
HB: Steven Baker, Sam Fisher, Farren Ray
C: Brendon Goddard, Andrew McQualter, Leigh Montagna
HF: Jason Gram, Nick Riewoldt, Robert Eddy
F: Clint Jones, Justin Koschitzke, Stephen Milne
Foll: Michael Gardiner, Lenny Hayes, Nick Dal Santo
I/C: Raphael Clarke, Sean Dempster, Steven King, Adam Schneider
Emg: David Armitage, Ben McEvoy, Jarryn Geary

In: King, Schneider
Out: Luke Ball, Ben McEvoy

Clearly, they have brought in Gears as the third emergency, rather than Ball... totally legal, although it insinuates that Ball didnt make it through a fitness test...

Not one post above resembles what you declared.

I think the confusion arrises from the fact that no comment has been made by the club (as yet) as to why he didnt make the squad...

I'd say most would understand if he is out either injured or in need of a rest... (i know that i agree with the move) It's just when the word 'dropped' is used, this is probably when people start asking for more answers...

But for what it's worth, i dont think any of the above posters have been ordering for the coach's neck!

Ball's an ongoing management issue the same as anyone with his injury history. They obviously thought they could work him out the last two weeks. They're not taking any chances this week. If it's still his groin, the club probably doesn't even know how long he'll be out.

I doubt this changes anything structurally. Ball hasn't been playing in the centre the last couple of weeks.

Yeah nah pleasing positive

Doubt Luke Ball would have been dropped.

Someone now will have to step up on their tackle count...I expect Mini to be the man for the occassion.

Sorry everyone.

Poop has been flying on the Saints Facebook - as others have pointed out, nothing like that has been said here.

Though I'm willing the bet the tools who want us to rest half the team will whinge about it in due time.

Suspect
he's injured !
have a look at the game time he's had and the way he has been managed the last few games, they have been nursing him through games and bringing him on in the last Q if and when the game needs to be won ...ring a bell the last 2 weeks!!

I was very surprised they took him over to Perth after the Cats game in the 1st place

and as I had mentioned earlier in one of those ad nauseum "rest players"?? threads
it seems whatever ails Luke appears as something "rest" might not help much, otherwise why did they take him West??
anyway we sure as hell need him up and near his best in the finals so it's all good news to me!!

so its not a case of being dropped as "managed" one would think which given his history maybe isn't to hard to guess what the problem still
may be

With Luke out, this may have been a good week to play Armitage.

With almost three years in the system it would be nice to see if he could offer us anything in September.
