Hard to pick a favourite memory for Max there have been so many. Keeping Harry high pants quiet is always enjoyable. But I guess one of my favourites would the one he would rather forget. Yes when he showed his passion for us when the Dogs beat us when he was so young. Was pretty upset that night myself.

Just love Max and hope there is still alot more memories.

Me too, Bev. Its the one that sticks in my memory and epitomises his passion for the club.
I hope we get the chance to see him elated after a Grand Final win. I love our Max, and its going to be sad when the time comes to have to say goodbye.

Yep, that's the first thing I think of when I think of him.

There's someone who REALLY bleeds red, black and white.

Just a great person for our club.

Not that I am saying it's over... as someone indicated before, I will be forever pleased if he has a Premiership medal around his neck.

Ready for what???

have I (and the rest of the Forum I assume as theres been no other thread) missed an announcement?

The OP seems to suggest that Max has made some sort of statement? Or is it just a case of "Oh yes injured he prolly want want to play on" wild guess??

Ill save my reminiscing for when I know he's officially told us something thanks

not official, but ...
Hudghton, who turns 33 in September, has made it known at St Kilda that he is retiring at the end of the season due to an increase in work commitments combined with a history of soft tissue injuries since playing in every game in his second, third and fourth seasons from 1997.

The likely ramification of Hudghton's retirement is that St Kilda will retain key defender Matt Maguire on its list, despite his slower-than-expected recovery from a series of severe leg and foot injuries, which have so far restricted him to playing in the VFL this season.

Max Crow...was a great footballer for the Dons but much like Tony Antrobus never really reached the same heights for us.

My favourite memory of Max Hudghton was when he took a mark in the backline in the dying minutes of the 2009 grand final ran through the middle handballing back and forth with Montagna then delivering to Gardiner who kicks the winning goal against Geelong....again.

I was going to say holding Steve Johnson goal-less in the '09 Grand Final in his last match ...

Perhaps I only imagined it, but I could have sworn Max said at the start of this year that 09 is his final year regardless of what happens, he'd already made the decision with Ross. People don't seem to remember it though, so maybe I made it up.

It just strikes me as a bit surprising that everyone seems to think there's a chance he'll play on, when in my mind he's said he won't.

it was stated as early as contract time last year- would only be one more- BUt the news article posted above was the catalyst for my post

I just felt he needed recognition- .- whether it be this year or next- BUt given one of his business associates has retired and his veteran partner went last year and he has not been able to be out there would be cementing the decision in his thinking..

Good Luck Max and the esteem the players in other sides hold you is not as obvious in the position you play- as maybe the midfield or the forward

was there a suggestion somewhere that there should be an award for the Best Backman- and was Max's name suggested for it?

Have edited for more romantic idealist conclusion...

Hopefully I have the memory of seeing Max with tears of joy as the siren sounds at the end of the Grand Final then seeing the smile on his face when he receives his medal and the St.Kilda fans roaring with what's left of their voices.

So far... any one of his goals. they're awesome cause they never happen and it means our team is blitzing. Plus Maxi loves it and it shows sheer domination over his opponent. I also love watching him play on Fev as he tears him a new one and Fev cracks the sads every time. Its gold.

So...the greatest memory...Max kicking a goal in the Granny....or is that pushing it just a tad far?

My fave memory of Max is the time out he took from training to speak to my daughter after she took him flowers and a stuffed teddy to training after the above match

Quality human being who, as Saintly said, loves our club with a passion
