cats claim underdog status

GEELONG captain Tom Harley has set a dramatic stage for Sunday's clash of the unbeaten clubs, declaring the Cats were "in awe" of St Kilda this year. Despite a rampant run in which Geelong has won 55 of its past 58 games, the Cats have claimed underdog status for the Etihad Stadium blockbuster.

Harley and Shannon Byrnes, who kicked four goals against Port Adelaide, referred to St Kilda as the competition's benchmark.

St Kilda defeated Richmond by 56 points at Docklands to remain unbeaten along with Geelong, which beat Port by 34 points at Skilled Stadium.

It is the first time in VFL/AFL history two unbeaten sides have met so late in the year.

Lets all put on our money on geelong and ruin their odds therefore making us the sure fire underdogs and giving us a silver lining on what could prove to be a cloudy day ,even with the roof closed.

Are you gonna be the one?

They have made the last 2 Grand Finals and trounced us in our last couple of meetings. Geelong? Underdogs?

If I didnt think they were actually serious id probably laugh. Bunch of wankers

I'm quite pleased with the contrariness of statements coming out of geelong - a few years ago thompson was quite vocal in insisting the praise and attention given to st kilda was misdirected - despite the sainters better performance. Now geelong are the super team of the comp he tries to turn it around (on some days - other days he pretends not to know when we are even playing?).
If anything it suggests a bit of mental fragility - a team like geelong shouldn't need to engage in mind games. perhaps the GF loss, rather than inspiring them to improve further, is also still corroding a bit of self-belief?

They only belt Lingy in his own self-interest. Belting him is much cheaper than the plastic surgery he requires to stop him looking like that kid in the movie Mask.

Just play the game Geelong, enough with the pathetic mind games. It's pretty sad they think they have to mess with our heads in order to beat us. As i said, just play the game and get on with it.

Port Adelaide's medium sized forwards clicked and made the Geelong backline look second rate in the last quarter - luckily for Geelong Motlop was out - he might actually have made the difference.

I don't know if our medium sized forwards can do the same?

who are our medium sized forwards anyway?
