not much point criticsing him on here ,even if it is constructive , you'll still get howled down!!!
but to me he just doesn't seem switched on enough to the speed of thinking required "most " of the time!

6 Clangers frm 7 disposals.

Surely Eddy/Armo even Steven would be pushing to replace him.

Painless exit with Gilbo back.

He'd be disappointed with his effort under pressure.

At least he caved in a cheekbone, I suppose.

Frankly though, I'd be tempted to retain him for what he could be and shuffle Baker back the the emergency list. Bakes, love him, but he is either really off pace or injured... Something NQR with No 10.

No. Give me another week.

If I get to see the game I might change my mind though....

decision making was poor today, seems fazed by the speed, that could come as he gains confidence, but for now, i think if he isnt dropped, he needs to be played elsewhere, off the backline was costing us a bit today

Gives away too many frees each week with clangers means that he needs to excel in other areas.

Does well occasionally but not consistently enough to keep a position in the best 22.

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

He's had 3 games in a row ... and the first of those was his best IMO.

I think he's got the ability and skills to be a good player ... but at the moment he's simply not performing.

Unfortunately with blokes like Gilbert and Milne waiting in the wings, he can't afford not to perform.

I've got confidence he'll be a part of this 22, and I reckon we'll see him in September. But at this stage of the year he isn't performing, and he's going to have to make way.

Thought he was poor today. Had a couple of good second efforts in the second half but apart from that was largely unsighted and when he was he was ordinary.

Ive honestly always been worried when Raph gets the ball, his kicking and handballs rarley hit a target and his decision making is slow and poor. I dont think he is anywhere near in our best 22

Obviously the coaching staff and selection panel see something in him that we on this forum do not but be that as it may his game this week was very sub par.

Since everyone wants to compare us with Geelong ill put this question to anyone who wants to awnser it

Would Raphel Clarke get a game in the Geelong side?

Don't be suprised if milney and gilbo are given another week off

Add the mid season break into that as well and they will be 100% fighting fit and totally refreshed to come back after the break

Injuries are never a good thing however in some sort of sick way it might be a blessing that some of our guys are getting a bit of a rest mid season to recharge their batteries

With the caveat that I only watched it on tv and therefore didn't see anything that was occuring outside the camera focus, I thought Raph had a very ordinary game today.
He seemed to turn the ball over by both hand and foot and just 'looked clumsy'.

If either Gilbert or Milne are ready next week, then I think Raph may be dropped. Gilbert in a straight swap, and Milne with some restructuring.

On the other hand I reckon Gwilt showed enough today to give you some confidence that he can play that 'medium forward' role that seems to be the missing piece of our forward line puzzle.
His attack on the ball, especially as the game wore on seemed intense and his ball-handling was 'sure'.

He did look shocking today, particular his continued fumbling. It's a pretty simple Gilbert in Clarke out for me.

Certainly not his best game by far. Just asking how many games did he get under his belt before last years final series and how many has he played straight this year?

Do you "carry" Raph in the seniors and hope he regains last year's form, or do you send him back to the seconds to find that form? It's hard to justify carrying him when there are others pushing up to take that place.

he was poor today, and if his form is consistently poor then i think that Maguire would take his spot, or milne, or Gilbert, Steven maybe, or even Armo.

with improved depth, no player can slack off anymore

Raph was poor today and he's the natural out for Gilbo. IMO Raph in form is in our best 22 but he's a fair way off that form atm.

Others who would like to perform better than today:

Goddard
Baker
Max
Geary
Blake

I can cut Max, Goddard and Geary some slack, Max for first game back and Geary & Goddard for their seasons to date.

Baker and Blake need to lift badly on today and the last few weeks performances.
