Yes theyll have selected their team but one emergency is always held back in case of warm-up injuries...so one player WILL miss a game and always will when Sandy play before St Kilda

I think the saints have a policy of keeping a least 1 player in reserve for the senior side in case of a requirement for a very late change !!

It's a ridiculous situation to have a payed employee sitting in the stands.......not getting match practise, maintaining form, helping the two's and not developing......

A winning culture is just that......it breeds confidence.....If Eddy, Armo, Raph play in the seconds last week......they all get another game under their belt, get fitter and NO doubt win!

Correct...we'd look a bit silly if someone pulled a hammy in the warm-up (X in Tassie a few years ago?) and all 3 of our emergencies were in Werribee having just played 3 quarters of VFL Footy

And...........The final last year v Collingwood when Lenny had a problem with his ? shoulder. Shane Birss did the warm up as the 23rd player. I think we copped a heafty fine for that too !!

Armo did play for Sandy last week.

With the Sandy game being Saturday arvo and Saints a ridiculous Monday night, there was no option but to keep players available.

So what do you suggest we do? There isnt really any other options if the reserves play before the firsts on a different ground.

Yes, by making St Kilda play most of its' games after, or at the same time as Sandringham, Demetriou is able to sabotage at least one St Kilda replacement player's fitness and match readiness.

Yes that makes complete sense. When the AFL do the draw AD comes in and says alway play the Saints as late as possible so one player doesnt play every week. Two words I think. Jumping, Shadows.

It's common sense to expect St Kilda to take one or more emergencies...any AFL club would do that...we expect that to happen at Sandy....

Mind you there is an example of it going haywire

A few years ago Chris Lamb was named on the bench for Melbourne....he didn't even get get a run at all for the entire game...he came to watch Sandy the following day and said he would have been better off playing at Sandy than sitting on the bench doing nothing...

Leigh Fisher named???...that's a huge recovery if it does happen...I expected him to be out for at least 2-3 weeks considering the extent of the injury

Howard seems to be named in both sides... So maybe dependent on who/ how many are emergencies or line up for the Saints.

I guess also worth noting that Connors is still bottom age - only about 18, and showing signs... Although being dropped a level never suggests that they're exactly flying....

I've watched Eljay a few times, the kid's got great skill and is well regarded around the club as such.

Not sure if he might be carrying a niggle at the moment from the hip flexor, but he will be a player. Still needs another pre-season with another 5-6 kg on.

Turned 19 on New Years Day, had a couple of years of really bad luck injuries.

From memory I think he copped a punctured lung or similar during his last TAC Cup year prior to us grabbing him?

Watching last week, I did notice Conner spent a large amount of time on the bench.....Opportunity is usually a big factor in performance. Might need to go to the two to get a full game.

Also, I like the look of Howard....Has bulked up and can definitely run. Maybe if he was released from his tagging role week in and week out he might start to show something.

Howard is a sitting duck and WILL be delisted at years end.

Connors is still young - check back next year.

Both will go......second year....not a VFL regular, not good enough....

Jack Steven is bottom age.....yet to play VFL reserves, even in his first year....

Pfitzner, Raymond, Howard, Conners, Chivers, Houlihan all spent large stints in the VFL ressies.....what does that indicate.

Sweeney, Lynch, Allen, Mini, Armo, Eddy, Geary, Gwilt, Heyne and many others.....generally straight in the seniors....

Never a good sign, second year, playing in the threes...

The fact that LJ played only 5 games due to injury doesnt count. Howard may be gone because he is a rookie. Sorry just remembered it is round 7. They must have to get rid of players early these days.

Also didnt Gwilt play mainly in the seconds in 2005. Matter of fact played in the seconds the week before he was promoted to the finals.

Don't we have an extended list this year????

I am not sure how everyone can play with Sandy firsts...thought there were limits?????

Choo..and Macgarth...and and both playing seconds....and both area chance to make it. Both need to be developed though...which is why they are at the saints...to be developed.

With Elay...he was always a speculative and LONG-TERMpick.

A others have not he had health/injuries when selected and was underweight.

But the guy is natural footballer.

Hi s body will be built up...and his conditioning improved...and he will be devekoped.

This year is way to early to make a call on him.

With Howard.....the improvement in the rest of the list may count against him.

As a rookie Miles would look to be in front of him at present...and they are probably in-line fora simlar type postion.

Flying the World in comfort thanks to FF Points....
