Isn't it geat to be scratching your head on who to leave out...because no one deserves to be ommitted....

....and also wishing that one of a number from the reserves could get a senior game because they are good enough to.

Was not that long back you would look at the reserves and think...err no one to bring in.

Player services, or whatever they call themselves?

.....so it's interesting to hear parkin say tonight that his only reservations around st kilda...who he reckons can beat girlong......is our depth...reckons we only have 21 to 22 good players......

In part..yes....

But I think it is more the new recruiting guy, Drain...and Lyon in their trades and rookie pics and development.

Take from the current 22...Schneider, Ray, CJ, Geary, Eddy and Zac out and things would be lookinga lot thinner.

From what i can see their is only 8 players in our list, who couldn't slot straight into our team without diminishing performance.

Jarryd Allen,
Paul Cahill,
Eljay Connors,
Nick Heyne,
Tom Lynch,
Alastair Smith,
Rhys Stanley &
Jack Steven.

All players picked in the last 2 years except for Allen.

A lot of people have forgotten about players like L.Fisher, who were solid, and could still perform a good role in the team (especially with our game plan being on effort, meaning less talented players are almost as important as the Riewoldts).

Not only this, but the fact that our structure is so good that we could lose a player anywhere on the ground and replace him easily (the only weaknesses being FF and the Ruck), but a key defender, midfielder, or forward is easily replaced due to our flexibility.

Yes Leigh is probablya barometer of how we are going...

He is probably still about the same...maybe a slightly better player.

But as gone from being an automatic selection to can't get in because the quality of the team has improved.

Exactly, he's the perfect backup player, he's fit, strong bodied, and mature...so he slots straight into a team that he's been a part of for 6 years.
