Good start but

Post: # 722191Post bungiton »

Yesterday, in fact all three weeks has seen some tremendous displays from the box upstairs. Three wins in a row means nothing, the other 15 teams in the comp will be sitting down now after taking notice and looking at ways to dismantle our game plan. It happened against Roos in 2004 when the Swines not only dismantled but busted our game apart, ironically Lyon played a big part in it.

The secret now is to keep evolving the game plan built on the fundamentals we have displayed so far, running/hunting in packs, fierce tackling and defensive skills.

Ross has shown that he's keen to throw a curveball as well to take advantage of a mismatch in matchups ie, effectively ending Brett Jones afl days as an eagle yesterday.
The beauty of it is we also have other surprise forward inclusions with I'd expect, the Giblet, and Guilt to feature in these surprise forward matchups over the season.

Bakes was once again exposed yesterday against an oponent thats good overhead, that was a glaring drama in the first qtr

I'm sorry, you've gone through all the trouble to find out what this actually says and it really is quite insignificant.

The way we are playing is a robust game plan and not easily dismantled but is very hard to sustain- Sydney and the Hawks did it but the hawks look like it took a toll on immature bodies.

The Hawks zone sits forward and can be kicked over quickly but we can go man on man all over the ground and bleed the life out of the contest.

Sydney dictated play that way and burst the game open on their terms.

Yesterday was the saints best all round performance- we looked dangerous going forward.

I think we have got a bit of an easy run so far and the real test will come from geelong.

We are the best placed we have been for 12 years to steal a grand final but heaps needs to go right.

Bring em on - Cometh the Hour - Cometh the Man

Look for complete surprises from left field as this team of talent grow to become a force.

We out Sydneyed Sydney with good possesion football
We out Adelaided Adelaide with constant pressure for four quarters
We out Eagled The Eagles with quick out of the middle movements and strong forward pressure

Watch for us to outplay every team with their own gameplan!

I reckon on yesterdays form even Geelong are worried about the new TOUGH Saints

All three sides we've played have struggled to come to terms with our forward-midfield zone. All three have found it difficult to get the ball out of their defensive 50 and we've managed to keep the ball in our half of the park for long periods.

The only way you can really get through is to run in numbers using lots of handball. Either that or hitting up target after target but with little space to work in it makes it difficult. If a side is skillful enough they'll get through it.

It would be interesting to see how we'd go against Geelong or Hawthorn at their best because those two sides are the best exponents of run-and-handball. Geelong have also shown that they have the ability to hit targets all day.

So the question is: will the pressure that we apply be enough to stifle the best into making mistakes?
