I reckon for the demolition they should have got Robert Muir, Robbie Mace, "Joffa" Cunningham and Plugger down there for a chop out. Would have saved them a few hours. Rod "Rocket" Owen would have been handy too.

That grass doesn't look too green - is it a problem with the photo or the grass?

Edit - the second photo hadn't loaded - it must have been a contrast matter as the grass is greener on the 2nd photo.

2nd photo is a better indication.

New summer type grass used on few suburban grounds........

not quite as green but a good cover (in summer)

goes brown (dormant) in winterbut maintains a fairly good cover.

Now, picture those stands encompassing the entire gorund... and seats added to the terraces.

What a great home ground that would have been.

Brings a tear to the eye.

It would be great IF they kept some seats and at least set up a "Moorabbin Wing" at Seaford for supporters when they go watrch training.

I wonder if there's something they can use to incorporate into the new facility to provide an historical link?

Apparently, club officials read this forum, so I'm certain they'll be aware of my requests.

In the MCC members, some of the old bench seats from the old knocked down Member's Pavillion were kept and are now in the new members.

It does add a nice touch, and is noticed by many!

PLEASE dont tell me that they are gonna frame up a sliver of seat, put a photo of the ground above it..and flog it for $200????? No NO NO!!!!

This is a REAL way that the Club can connect with the fans, and using it as a cheap cash-grab would reallly annoy me.

Why not just let every member have a piece of seat...or terracing...or piece of wire from the Animal Enclosure...and let them organise their own framing or however they want to remember it?

I was at the Moorabbin ground after work today.....

Not only are they knocking the stand down, they are also churning up the outer ,on the scoreboard side.....

They are stripping the stepped embankment right back to earth, removing all the concrete steps from the top of the embankment down to the fence, maybe it will end up grassed.....

My old reserved seat area in the stand in Bay 6 has had the backs ripped off the seats, another week or two and it'll all be rubble..

No way they could play the intra club game there, there's nowhere for the spectators to stand.....

It's a real dump and it's only 45 years old.....

The list changes for 2025 have begun, always an interesting time for an avid supporter.

Interesting that there is no mention of the intra club location or date in the article - what is the club hiding I wonder?

Or aren't we having a intraclub this year?

It's basically just a fundraiser for the social club - albiet a very good one!

The Trevor Barker Oval would be a perfect choice if Moorabbin is not an option IMO.

Oh Man... those pics are heartbreaking. :( However, the players training there whilst it is being demolished, are probably oblivious of the emotional attachment so many of us have to the Ol' Girl & are only concerned about the future & going forward.
Which, is the attitude that I'm trying very hard to adopt.
But like Bev, & to borrow a line from Paul Kelly- "I can no longer go down there.... Down to that sacred ground"
