Lynch v Swift

Post: # 681002Post True Blue Sainter »

I know it's pretty unfair to draw comparisons and hypotheticals considering the draft was only a couple of days ago, but does anybody think that Tom Swift could have been a handy selection? Was comfortably the #1 junior in the country at the U/16 carnival, and still showed ability after coming back from 2 knee reco's (one on each knee I believe). Many still expected him to go top 10 this year, and he ended up slipping to 20.

Now, I've been quite impressed with what I've seen and heard of Lynch (know a few of his Haileybury teammates as I play footy for their old boys), but I get the feeling West Coast just may have gotten the steal of the draft.

Thoughts?

Interesting:

There is massive difference between their U16 year and their U18 year too. 3 years ago Michael Dal Aquilla was up there with Kruezer and ahead of Cotchin at U16 level. 2 years of persistent hamstring injuries saw him not drafted and playing only a handful of reserves games for Box Hill in 2008.

For mine, Swift is too big a risk !!

I guess time will tell..

However with 2 knee reco's how does that go for him?

I think we have done well in draft. Even Cahill was meant to go lower.

Just wish we picked up Cuz instead of Begley..

'Some' foreign language

The SOME 'foreign' language is Klingon if i am not mistaken. I wouldn't go assuming what it translates as.

G O S A I N T S !

The boy can play and we can build a defence around him that will have respect.

Swift has had one knee reco & cartilage damage in the other knee.

While I was very keen on Swift we do have enough ball winners but Lynch fills an urgent need. At least we have some flexibility in our KP department now. Allen, Lynch & Cahill can all play forward & support Roo but all have spent time in defence as well, should the need arise there.

I think Begley can surprise a few & be a very good pick up. He tackles like a mad man, which is of high value to our team who outside of Lenny, Bally & Bakes are happy to corral their opponent.
