Wasn't he signed for a two year contract only a couple of months ago?

IF SO

What is going on?

no idea about howard but why are we linked to carroll??!?

from sportal:

"St Kilda is reportedly interested in the key defender and Carroll is now free to link up with the Saints when Ross Lyon's team begins pre-season training on Monday giving him less than a fortnight to make an impression prior to the national draft on November 29."

Howard HAS been delisted and I really can't see the confusion in it...

This is from the AFL web site...

Don't worry too much about the Saints web site it just hasn't been update yet

More good news...

The Saints Footy department are determined to give the playing list a real tweak this year....

Maybe the players let go had no real development left in them so it's time to bring in a new batch of players....

Not sure how many draft picks we can have but it seems likely 2 of those picks will be used on Carroll and Cousins......

Six debutants for the Saints so far in Season 2024. :D

What this list means is that St Kilda gets 6 senior picks distributed between the Main draft and the Pre-season draft of which 5 must be used.
(5 must be used to bring list up to 38 minimum number of senior players).

Also means that assuming St Kilda takes an international player as a rookie, St Kilda gets 6 rookie picks (including the international player).
If they fail to use all 6 senior picks they get an additional rookie pick.

Not all senior picks and rookie picks have to be taken up.
But the senior list must have at least 38 players and because there is only one veteran (Max Hudghton) a maximum of 39.
Only half of Max's pay and half the pay of each rookie ($33,200/2=$16,600) counts against the total player payments cap.

If the club does not take up all 6 senior picks and 6 rookie picks it tells us the club has botched up its' total player payments.

I notice that Nathan Carroll, Shane Crawford and Leigh Brown names are no longer on their clubs' lists but their names appear among the deletions.

Brad Howard's name does not appear on St Kilda list any more BUT ALSO DOES NOT APPEAR AMONG THE DELETIONS.

Has the AFL mucked up or has St Kilda.
How much is the fine for this one and whose pay does it come out of.

Given that there are 85 live picks in the draft, it would be reasonable to expect around 80 to be used. That means the equivalent of 5 rounds per club.

Which would be better as a rookie pick - the 93 best Australian player or the best pick out of Ireland?

By my reckoning an early first round pick from Ireland must be better than a late 6th round pick from Australia.
I know a lot of Irish have failed but so do virtually all late round picks in the main draft and rookies.
Those Australians that do not fail, normally end up as fringe players anyway.
There are very few Australian former rookies (Dean Cox) who really change the destiny of a club.

I think it may well be a good idea to rookie a number of the Irish about to train with the club.
They have potential, the Australians only have slight hope.

Delisted players like Nathan Carroll and Ben Cousins have until Wednesday 19 November 2pm to nominate for the main draft and until Tuesday 9 December 2pm to nominate for the pre-season draft.
