Archie Dodges X Question.

Post: # 668112Post GrumpyOne »

I logged a question with "Ask Archie" last week requested the current position re re-signing Xavier Clarke.

It has not appeared in the latest round of replies as at tonight. Others either side of the date submitted have been responded to.

Is this an indication that X will be delisted before the cutoff date on Friday?

I wonder if it has something to do with the AFL decision on Cousins falling due before then?

Probably in final stages of contract negotiations (I hope).

Hey Grumpy !!

The AFL decision on Cousins won't be made until about 1 week before the Draft (about 3 & bit weeks). The question on X is an interesting one. We will just have to wait & see !!

wouldn't have thought so - more a case of not discussing Players personal matters( contract) that may or may not be under discussion--
did you phrase it as a specific or a general in relation to players resigning.
or there being any further changes.

I thought the Cousins decision was Nov 17- don't know where I heard that.....

I think you're reading into it too much.

As far as I know, Archie usually answers questions on Friday but may have been held up for some reason this week? I'd wait to see if he covers it on Friday before jumping the gun

Cousins decision is definitely after the Nov 17 AFL Commission meeting.

There is no way he can be denied though IMO.

Whether we should be the ones to recruit him, I'm not so sure.

the only thing that will stop them from giving the go ahead would be a positive drug test

Agree.

On a purely legal standpoint, he couldn't be denied surely. His lawyers would have a field day.

But a positive test would be different kettle of barramundi.

very very rare that a player is left uncontracted at this time of year?

Very interesting.

The thought has struck me that something is up with X, Fiora (and his contract) and the 'will-he-won't-he' arrival of Ben Cousins.

Why would they delist X Clarke and get nothing in return??

Doesn't make sense

Agree with post above.

To give X up for nothing doesn't make sense.
He would get snapped up in either draft IMO.
They are surely working through the contract.

Xavier Clarke is an important member of our playing group, if we are going the win a premiership.

it could be utter media bullding as noone really knows what goes on at the dome behind closed doors

almost everyone is up for trade apart from 2-3 per team

Dont think so this is all part and parcel of being an afl player i doubt they really give it much thought to be honest they will know what the coach has said to them in regards to where they are at and they would be just enjoying their time off ... the beat up of who's comming and going in trade week is mainly to sell newspapers in a dull time of the off season
