SAINTSATIONAL WIN !!

Post: # 667857Post Eastern »

SAINTSATIONAL 21 - 12 - 138

BOMBERBLITZ 16 - 7 - 103

Essendon's numbers were very poor so we loaned them some players including Illzy

yipper snagged 3 goals in the 3rd Q

No sign of anyone from the council to kick us off. Ground in great nick. Parking a bit of a problem, although I pulled a swifty !!

Ilzy played for Bomberblitz as part of the player rationalization program that was in place.

Swifty involved conning a nice Indian man who was in charge of the servo across the road that has 4 or 5 very convenient parking spots.

Also, it looked like there were a couple of (real) Melbourne players having a kick to kick on the soccer ground beside the venue !!

Ahh something along the lines of - if you play a high level football it's you that has to don the opposition jumper.....

you didn't offer the nice indian a ready supply of thirsty customers post game as compensation did you?

Just got home after stopping off at the old stomping ground glenferrie oval for a barbeque.

Was a pleasing day despite the numbers.

Full credit to everyone for battling it out with a 12 a side game in some nasty heat (29 degrees).

It involved a lot of running and the standard of players accross the board was pretty high from both sides.

Quarter by Quarter it was:
Saints vs Ess
6.5.41 5.0.30
10.8.68 8.2.50
17.11.113 10.6.66
21.12.138 16.7.103

illsy our resident superstar donned the essendon jumper to assist with numbers and blitzed as expected.

Full credit to the bomber boys who were a great bunch of blokes. The game was played in good spirit throughout.

Goals was a bit of a mixed bag for the sainters. Yipper, two of the spinners and HD snared 3. A few more spinners and magnifisaint 35 got 2...not sure of the rest but im sure that will come to hand.

mightysainters was great again, as was the spinner in the yellow peril, and punter sweeping accross the backline.

What was that you said? You need to speak up - who kicked 3 goals in just one quarter???

All they need to do is ask - and then I'll get my manager down there.

1. Good day for a run around but unfortunately not everyone of the 50 people that put down their names turned up.

2. The game was played in great spirit.

3. Peter P - The bloke who reckons he is from the council - you are a JOKE! Get of this forum... the closest thing to a council official I saw on Sunday was the cleaners around Richmond Station.

Congratulations to everyone who turned up, was a grouse day!

It was a really good day despite the lack of numbers - never really had that problem before. The Essendon guys were great - and it was a pretty easy game to umpire actually. And it was great to be able to pull on the saints jumper and play the 2nd half as a loose man err.. deep forward!! Reckon Aussie the border colliie would have snagged a couple, everyone was running out petrol by the time I got out there!!

It was great fun, and I'll be participating again if other commitments do not interfere.
