Core Group

St.Kilda has a very solid core group of players and it must start from now that we built a list around the following for our tilt at a premiership. The players include:

Baker, Ball, Dal Santo, S. Fisher, Goodard, Gram, Hayes, Hudghton, King, Koschitzke, Maguire (If Fit), X. Clarke (If Fit), Milne, Montagna, Riewoldt, Schneider.

With good young players coming through with the likes of, Eddy, Armitage, Mcveoy, Steven, Gwilt, Gilbert, R. Clarke. We must continue to build on this next year. We cannot afford to pick up anymore players like Charlie Gardiner and Shane Birss, we must target youth.

We are missing another tall forward. Ourforward line when on song is very damaging, with Kosi, Riewoldt, Milne and Schneider, however we are missing a mobile forward.

Our midfield depth can be improved. If we can recruit a young tall developing defender or two. This would allow Sam Fisher to have much longer stints in the midfield and essentially could play like Adam Goodes because of his height he would be such a hard match up. Also next year we must see the development of Gilbert and Raph Clarke continue so it allows Goddard and Gram to play in the midfield more often which will see our midfield gain an extra bit of class.

I think the saints core group is very solid and we must build a team around it now as they are all reaching their peaks in the coming years. We must recruit well in the draf to fill in the areas that we require now.

I would add Dempster to that lot, I think he has been fantastic for us. A screaming shame about his injury. Could have made a world of difference in the finals.

Will be interesting to see what happens with Bakes. We all love him but he hasn't played much footy the last 2 yrs.

Will we keep the likes of Gwilt, McQualter. Surely not Fiora, C. Gardiner, Ferguson and Rix?
