Max Hudghton ... one of the great individual performances

Post: # 649406Post Legendary »

Maxie played one of the great games by a full back you will ever see.

Would have had 10 spoils and destroyed the best player in the AFL.

Wow. What a champion.

Here, here. Do you think he'll go around next year? I think we could really use him, he's the best in the biz for mine.

The only real highlight from the game. Totally pantsed him.

Was singing his praises on the train home... Hawks supporters not impressed.

Lyon has said that there are "strong indications" he will play on next year, but they are giving him a few weeks to consider.

Dermott for once made a good call ....... said it was a disgrace Hudghton wasn't All-Australian, and had a far better season than Harley for one.

You won't ever see a full back play a game like that ... remember it.

I agree with Dummit, and I agree with you...it may be a long time before we see a fullback off his style and calibre again.

I think its safe to say that Buddy is Maxies BITCH...

Undeniable really....

Pity the rest of our team sucked so hard.

I was thinking if Max keeps him to like, less than 3 goals, we're set.

Oh how wrong I was...

Max was terrific on Franklin.
We kept Roughhead under control.

You would have thought that would be enough.
But Gilbert was totally carved up by Williams.

if i remember correctly, gilb started on williams earlier in the year and got pantsed too, but this time it cos us a little more, gilbert wasnt the only one embarrassed though

As for max, its about time someone other than a saint follower gives him some credit, can anyone think of 3 games where he got beaten?

absolute star, has been his whole career

Max suffers from a stigma the whole club suffers from...jokes with a bit of talent, lucky to make the finals. We all know that's bulls***, but by losing all of our recent prelim's, we've got a long way to go to prove otherwise.

Unfortunately, that rep drags great players like Max down with it. I agree...best FB in the comp by a mile.

Fantastic game by Max - the thing that gets me is that he was able to do that and hardly give a way a free kick. Which with today's rules is a big effort.

The Media Spin has already started.
Explaining away Buddy's poor game with the excuse that he had a 'bad wrist'.

Didn't seem to stop him fending Gilbert in the face did it?

They just cannot bring themselves to admit that Max totally destroyed him last night.

Max is a true saint.
and i agree with what harves said.

"I’d urge Max to go on. We all saw the evidence tonight and he’s done it for 15 years.

"I know the players and supporters appreciate Max but I think he’s undervalued by a lot of people."

... true, max doesnt get the appreciation that he deserves.

It was one of the best performances by a full back in a long time. Max totally destroyed Buddy, making the promotion of the game through the week absolutely laughable. It was really the only highlight on what was a bleak night.

The thing is, he does this week in week out, and there would only be a handful of times where he has been beaten in his whole career, yet he hasn't received any recognition by outsiders in 12 years of football. I urge him to play on next year, since he hasn't lost any of his ability with age. Onya Maxy.

Trust the Midas Touch

Franklin is at the top of his game and the best FF around.

Hudgton smashed him like he does to everyone.

Holding him to what he did would have been like holding Locket to one goal in 1991.

Absolutely Awesome.

Greatest game in a final by a saint I have ever seen.

It has taken over from Harvey in Adelaide.

Sorry Bang. I still love you.
