One Week at a TIME!
Ok folks, absolutely loving the enthusiasm around here over the last few days, however there are just a few things creeping in that suggest that not everyone is focussed.
We play on Saturday night against a team that finished 2nd on the Home and Away Season ladder. Yes we defeated them in Rd 16, but that was 2 months ago.
We play on Saturday night for the chance to play off for the Premiership Cup. But i stress we are not there yet! We have been in this position twice in the last 4 years and both times we were utterly devestated at the outcomes.
There is no use worrying about next week until the end of Saturdays game! Don't get me wrong, i love the confidence and eagerness. I just worry that if the possible happens and we dont get up on Saturday then there will be alot of disappointed people in here!
Focus on this week and the chances it brings, dont worry about next week as it is out of our control! There is a game tomorrow night between the Dogs and the Cats (who of course if the defending champion) and we face the Hawks (who have a good midfield and a very potent and dangerous forwardline). We have not won that game and there is no use planning for a game next week that we may not be apart of!
Come Saturday night may we all find our voice and cheer on the MIGHTY SAINTS[/b]

so u know what to expect and itll be no surprise if the worst does happen.StSteven wrote:I agree with the sentiment as it is important to remember the favourites USUALLY win. We remember the exceptions. Hope should be tempered with expectations.
I am keeping a lid on it for sure. Been shattered too many times.

Exactly.Griggsy wrote:we are fans on a forum, what is there to focus on. The club shouldnt be doing this, i see no problem with us doing it.
Make room in the cabinet for a second cup.
Disclaimer: I am not an employee of the St.Kilda Football Club and have never played for the Saints outside of my dreams.
Win it for HIM!

Dont get me wrong, just that the dreams of grandur about the grand final should really be limited somewhat. By all means be confident about winning this weekend. Just remember that by 10pm on Saturday there will either be a large group of happy over the moon Sainters or a hell of a lot disappointed people because we didnt respect the opposition!

I see nothing wrong with a little confidence.
As I say, arrogance is a curse but confidence is a blessing.
The Hawks are not only hot favourites but according to the media, the grand final contestants were booked two weeks back and our ambitions of playing off in this years grand final is apparently a pipe dream.
This is exactly why we need to be positive, need to be confident. All the more positive energy the better.
I agree, we don't want to cocky and hot-headed, exactly what was Collingwood's undoing. But I still think we need to believe.

I'm not looking past this week.
I know we could lose, but I'm hoping.
Strange last week I was terrified of losing because Collingwood would have been unbearable to put up with for this week and the press would be getting onto the Eddie bandwagon.
But this week, I have some butterflies, but strangely calm. I know we can beat this team and will be sad if we lose.
But I'm hopeful that this side, as shown in another post has a lot of the players who have played in our 2 previous losing preliminaries may just take this opportunity.
Let's hope, I've been praying and hope we have one more game next Saturday.

Too right Griggsy its up to the players to focus and us to think about what may be. Also Croad ,Bateman and Brown under injury clouds raises my expectations even higher.Griggsy wrote:we are fans on a forum, what is there to focus on. When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!

I can't see how me disrespecting the opposition will have any effect on the result. If we lose I will be bitterly disappointed but in the meantime I'm getting ready to see us smash those over rated hacks.Buckets wrote:

Exacle, have confidence.
be a true supporter, tell everyone that we can win if we try hard enough,
have pride.
also, tell YOURSELF we can win.
aaaaaaaaah, we'll clip there wings, just like we did collingwood.
noo flying high!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and if we lose, we lose.
theres absolutley no use sooking about it. [although i probably will, only because of harves.]
just look foward to the next season.
...even though they deserve a win, & they need it.
