More Moorabbin
From an Email I received.......As a young tacker collecting cans on the terraces at Moorabbin while Nan knitted those woollen scarves whilst sitting on the boundary line, waving her brolly menacingly at those horrid umps, I took comfort in the certain things of life. Geelong would shine in May and be decidedly gloomy come September. Collingwood would always threaten but never deliver and Carlton were always flittering between premierships and simply being damaging in September. Fitzroy would battle through and punch above their weight whilst St Kilda would have the sprinklers on overnight before a big match regardless of the weather.
Now we watch footy as theatre patrons in glass houses, protected against the elements and removed from history that used to be inherent in footy. But that history can still be celebrated, renowned Moorabbin-based artist David Hurwitz has taken brush to canvas and captured much of the iconic glory of the old Moorabbin oval for an exhibition at Green-Wood Gallery in South Melbourne (www.green-woodgallery.com). The scoreboard up the hill captures the feel exactly.
Good memories of flying down the hill on the backside of the scoreboard on cardboard cartons flattened out.
Firework 10 Shooter fights in the grandstands
Watching the balls disappear one by one over the back of the south rd end during the Army reserve.

Good Point. Forgot about walking through the car park as the sun came up on Saturday morning. I still think that you could have got intoxicated just from the smell of the carpet at the disco!plugger66 wrote:Scoreboard is no good as it doesnt have saints disco next friday on it.SaintWal wrote:The scoreboard up the hill captures the feel exactly.
