That surprises me.
I would have thought Haw v StK would get well over 90k !!!!!

It was certainly much harder to get onto the Ticketmaster site this morning.

Surely EVERYONE with Red White and Black blood will be there?

I can think of nothing else this week except the fact that we are in a Prelim.
I'm a bag of nerves already and still 115 hours to go !!!!

There will no doubt be more fans at the StK v Haw game than Geel v Bull.

Certainly.

Maybe just a slowish start, but 28k is still a decent day.

It will be a HUGE crowd.

Probably just on 90k, if a little lower maybe.

I dont think people can complain about not being able to get GF tickets if there are still tickets available for the prelim so get on your bike and buy up.

MCC are predicting 80K for our game......there was never going to be 90K for a Saints game except the Granny.....get over that idea anyone! We only got 76K remember against the Pies and a perfect weather night...capiche???

Yes, I know it's a Prelim, but prices have gone up and Saints fans have had to fork out over $100 already in the past fortnight....it might be starting to weed out those without much spare cash....lucky there was the interest rate cut eh??!!!

I wouldn't be surprised with big ticket sales on Wednesday when it opens to the public - a lot of non-members will want to see the Roo and Buddy show!

Oh please spare me. you think that all the die hard supporters can afford social club tickets.
Well shoot me, because I was a social club member for years, now I can't even get my membership because my mortgage and family comes first.

and don't worry I will be complaining next week that I can't go to the GF.
DO you think anyone will take into count that I was a social club member and I was going to every game week in week out before starting a family.

OF COURSE NOT, so please spare me that "we can't complain"

Sorry but people are hitting a nerve with me on this forum at the moment because I feel like shtye that I can't see my beloved saints if they happen to make it next week after the years of being a paid up SC member. So don't bring on the guilt trip because I don't need it.

I am pretty sure I would not be the only person out there who is in the same boat.

People can complain about not getting a Grand final ticket- last time we got to this position I was not social club and was seeking out anyone I knew who may have access
People can and should complain TO THE AFL
that the Competing clubs DOnt get more than 7-10,000 tickets for members- for the Grandfinal, maybe a few more if your lucky,

the Club has restricted social club so that they can say- you will be guarenteed a G/F ticket IF St Kilda make it
but they have been forced into it by the AFL- I'm guessing they would love to be able to have 10,000 Social club memebrs- the coffers would certainly look better.

how sick do you get of having someone come to you and say- Oh I'm going to the Grandfinal or I've been to the grandfinal- - when they don't barrrack for ANY team, have no idea about Football and will sit in the function area all day and not even know whats happeneing out there.

All you have to do is get on "Dancing with the Stars" or know someone who's cousin is in Home and Away and you will get tickets from Ch.7.

That's fair isn't it?

Same every year!!! Just that we have not noticed it for a long time.....

Plus there wil be less kids there as in Week Three there are no family tickets.

ie it will now cost another $44 if you have two kids. Now that is ok for me, but for many it would be a stretch and in addition being a PF the adult price is higher. So for a family of 4 last week was about $100...the PF is suddenly $200+

Another factor...with the MCG being the Hawks home ground I would imagine that they would havea healthy number of AFL Members...which go on sale today.

Thats just silly sorry...

50,000 tix available to the public for the Prelims

20,000 tix tops available to the public for the Grand Final

More people wanting less tix...you do the math as our American friends would say

yeah..didnt get a social club membership (tough s***, shouldve bought one)...just settled for interstate.
didnt honestly believe i would be able to get over there like i have the last month.

but...i was thinking there better not be people who get a full membership and a social club extra membership and then not rock up to any games all year when they live in melb, and then come finals time they waltz on down to the G for the prelim and the grandy.
yeah i know they paid the bucks for the memberships but....well, u shoulda been out there supporting ya team during the year.

ill buy a ticket from one 'of those blokes that stands out the front' if i have to.

Very well said Bratty....I'm one of the lucky ones to be put down on the MCC waiting list at birth and have had access since 1996 to all grannies (but not Nanna's - they're not my type!).....but heaven help anyone on the waiting list now...it could be 15 years+ to be a restricted member, maybe up to 30 years for full membership!

I reckon it's time for the state govt to step in, and in essence "buy out" some of the tickets.

Instead of the clubs getting 16,000 tickets to onsell as a fundraiser, howabout cutting that number down dramatically, and the govt subsidises the revenue shortfall, and literally gives funding to the AFL clubs???

That would keep the clubs happy, the AFL happy and all would be sweet.

A certain number of tickets still need to go to all the 16 clubs to fulfill sponsorship commitments, but surely not 1,000 per club?

Reduce this by half and instantly 8,000 extra tickets are available for members.

It's a shame the mainstream media can't be bothered debating this....they'd prefer to argue re night Grannies vs day Grannies, whilst the real biggest issue is conveniently not talked about......

they could cut the number of tickets given to clubs and corporate bollocks by a few thousand and then increase the size of the stadium by say 10 thou and then everyday average mr and mrs joe blow peeps might get a sniff of getting in.

still...
shoulda bought a socail club membership :?

As a general adult member, Im pretty much certain that i wont be able to see the game live this year, although i have seen every game in melb for the past 5/6/7 years (not sure)... The Ganny is one game that is just disgracefully taken away from the real supporters...

I had a mate that went to last years game through his work... Sat at his allocated bar all day, didnt watch one min of the game, and got blind...

I wasnt impressed by his story, and felt really bad for the old school cats fans who wouldve missed out, waiting years and years to see the elusive premiership...

Unfortunately, my mates story is increasingly the norm at the Grand Final... just a joke..
