9,500 Disposals!!

Watched some footy show last night, and stat came up that Harvey has had 9,500 posessions over his career!!!

That's alot right?

But, what's even more unbelievable is that it averages out to 26 per game!! 26 touches a game for 376 matches!!

Seriously, that is just unbelievable.


Noone in the game would come to close to getting 9,500 disposals, surely.

Who else would be close?

I thought of Craig Bradley given that he played 375 games in the middle.

So I checked his stats and he ended his career with 8775 disposals.

I don't think anyone else would have averaged enough, or played anywhere near long enough to get close.

Must surely be an all time record that will never be broken.

I was wondering where his single-season tallies of 756 disposals ('97) and 501 kicks ('98) ranks. Buckley, Hird, Voss, etc. never put up those kinds of numbers. They may have kicked more goals, but I have the sneaking suspicion that if Champion Data had been keeping track of goal assists back then, Harves would have been well in front.

They had the stats up on the TV @ Harvey's 350th if I can recall correctly.

He is the leading all-time possesion getter in the AFL.

Now whether they based that stat on actual numbers or that it would be humanly impossible to have anymore that Banger.....I don't know.

376 games @ 25 possies a match.....almost impossible to even think of getting to that total.

My money's on that it would be humanly impossible to have more possies than Harves!

i agree. i dont think anyone ever has been or will ever get close to the 9,500.
