The B Plan if in trouble-Man up and stop the rebound

Post: # 612282Post Milan Faletic »

I am all for attacking but if we don't score, the opposition's best weapon against us is the defensive rebound.

We will beat any team if we stop easy rebound from our forward line.

Man up and we will cause the turnover, just as we did against Hawthorn.

No space, no easy ball.

And always have a second player near by to take the spilt ball in the tackle.

How?

If everyone's 'manned up'?

By standing in front of their opponent and getting to the ball first. Try something positive next time.

Actually just let the other team run free and don't tackle...that will work.

The line you didn't quote was defend when not attacking.

like stopping lynch last week was needed. easily would have prevented atleast 3 eagles goals. meaning we would have won.

Well that's not really manning up then though, is it.

We didn't beat Hawthorn by manning up. We played our structure, they played theirs, and in the 2nd half by creating and winning contests with a numbers advantage we rolled over them.

Yelling "man up" at the footy may be fun, but few teams play 18 men directly on their opponents full time. West Coast used to (and doesn't anymore), Sydney sometimes does (generally only once they've gotten their opposition playing in a manner that suits them and they've got the ball forward of centre) but man-on-man situations (which of course do occur) are frought with risk - one defender gets beaten and the opposition waltzes forward.

You are a dope. Man up in defence and attack the ball.

You don't man up to get the ball or when you have the ball....only when you don't have the ball.

Do you want me to teach you the times tables as well.
