Maxes injury: Injury Updates throughout the week.

Post: # 610219Post saintsRrising »

Max is vital to our backline as per my other post.

((There is a thread on Max re worth to our backline here:
http://www.saintsational.com/forum/view ... hp?t=45099 ))

But here, as people hear developments could they post the latest word on Maxes injury...extent, weeks out, if any etc?

Injury only discussed /info please.

Thanks.

I'm sick of this, I love Maxie to then nth degree but seriously...where is the depth to cover for a loss such as this??? WHERE THE **** IS IT??????? The friggin cats lose 2 key players...but does it worry them to at all???? NUP! Just look at their results (and against what teams!) Personally we're out-classed...we have GREAT players, capable players, but are outgunned when it comes to depth. Wanna watch me cry a river??? Keep dishing up the crap I saw yesterday!

Well if that is the case RL has lived up to his consistancy when talking about injuries because in the paper today he says he is still a chance next week.

i'd like to think maxy will play against port but they may give him a rest even if he passes the fitness test, without maxy our defence looks pretty crap

Lyon has previously said that given Max's hisory they are always ultra cautious whenever he feels the slightest twinge. Hopefully it's not as serious as everyone thinks. As Bruckner said this morning, if the scans don't show any damage he's a chance for this week. Given the way he ran off the ground it doesn't look too bad whatever it is.

It's probably not a fair comparison. Most teams don't have the depth to cover the loss of key defenders without any loss in overall performance. The Cats look far less impressive when either of Scarlett or Harley are missing.

We have always played better when Max and Chips are both available. If either is missing, we are in trouble.

The really annoying thing is how vulnerable to injury Max is. I can hardly remember a year in which he played all 22 games of the regular season.

That's right. Every club has lots of midfielders on the list. Only about eight clubs have a good full back on their lists. They aren't easily replaced.

Max's great strength is his pace & accelaration so he is prone to sprinters injuries.

I agree with bringing him off the ground if it means conceding a battle to attempt to win the war.

Fair points! I still can't come to grips that Max is a veteran of our club (his effort and desire to win the ball at a contest are literally unparalleled!) Godspeed on his recovery :(

What is it - a calf injury or a quad injury ?

I would say a calf injury. Hurt it at training just before the Hawthorn game and was in extreme doubt. Looks like he reinjured it.

I'm pretty sure Ross said after the game it was a calf.
