The square up at last

Post: # 606805Post bendigo bob »

Dont know if anyone felt like me but the result on Sat night was the square up for when the hawks came back from 60 odd points down at waverley park. I cant quite remember the exact year, although im sure other posters will but im sure it was a sat arvo game at waverley at we were up by 60 odd points before half time and then blew the match. In my opinion that loss set us back and has wrecked more than one season as we were fragile to teams launching comebacks against us for years to come. I can only hope that this win has demonstrated to our players that we can win from any position and that we must never give up the fight regardless of how hopeless the position appears. Sat night was inspirational stuff and i hope is the forerunner of greater things to come this season. Didnt want to single out any particulas player or act but CJ's run down and tackle of Franklin in the last quarter happened right in front of me and sent shivers down my spine.

Correct.

Strangely, in 1999, Rock played 15 games and Barker played 6.

Worst day at the footy I ever had, one of the worst days of Tims life I would imagine. Only time I ever left b4 the siren.

Maybe this year?

I remember that day - it was terrible. I went with a Hawthorn supporting mate (who incidentally didn't respond to my text last night of knock, knock).

I recall calculating % in my head when we were 60 points up, and thinking about different winning margins and what it would mean.

I'm forever scarred by the experience - I don't do %s during matches anymore and if I start to wander that way in my mind I get a sharp rebuke from the memory of that awful day telling me "don't do it-you'll jinx us".

I also think that was the day that the ressies won by well over 100 points in the curtain-raiser.

Speaking of jinxes.

When Armo had that shot in the last quarter, I said to a St Kilda dude sitting in front of me, dont worry he's a good kick.

A shank later, I'd jinxed him.

He then missed one 5 mins later from 15 out. Again...the jinx continued.

Then when he marked on that tight angle, I said jokingly, 'dont wory he's a good kick' :P

Turned out to be a good handball to Milne lol.
