We Are Fighting Fit!!!!!

Post: # 606106Post JuanTheSydSainter »

Our finishes to our last 3 games have been excellent. We completely over ran North in the 4th, held off Carlton to finish strongly (they had been having great 2nd halves in the month beforehand), and our second half last night was amazing.

I think our good form has a lot to do with fitness levels. We have a short injury list (can't even be compared with previous seasons) & all players last night, bar Gilbo & Schneider, have hardly missed a game. This has enabled fitness levels to be built up progressively without any hiccups.

Lyon's game plan requires cattle who can apply pressure for 4 quarters. And modern football requires cattle who can run for 4 quarters and link with handball to break the lines. Our ability to over lap, support the ball carrier and provide a running option was fantastic in the second half last night.

Different story to this time last year when we were over run by the Pies and Eagles.

Thoughts?

I believe that there was an incredibly in depth post about our fitness last year by a prolific poster, I can't remember who it was off the top of my head...

we also seem to have reduced the soft injury scourge we had for a few years.

things are looking good for having fit guys on the field.
