Kingy's game!
Thought he was terrific tonight.
Worked really hard and provided a great ruck contest but importantly was a solid target around the ground.
Great game Kingy, congrats!

Loved his little whisper to Stevie Milne at a ball up in the foward line, reckon that could be a good partnership of sorts to build onkp83 wrote:Great game and looks like he's really enjoying playing in a Saints jumper now!

He presents an interesting scenario for when Gardy comes back hopefully next match. As shown by the last few weeks, he's much more capable than simply being a #2 ruck to Gardy only playing 40-50% gametime. I'd like to see Gardy spend a bit more time up forward, where he has very briefly shown he can add something, which would allow Kingy more time in the ruck. In such a situation it would allow Gardy to ruck the F50 when he's playing forward and Kingy sit back behind the play. This would also mean Kosi wouldn't be as tied down to FF which is clearly a good thing, as he plays much better when he gets to run around a bit.
I'd like something like this to happen when Gardy come back and even though he'd be spending time up forward he'd still be spending a lot of time in the ruck. Hopefully, both King and Gardy can play more games together, rather than one playing and one injured, which I think adds a lot to the team when both are in the side.

Kingy was great but i think it is a case of horses for courses. Hale and Petrie aren't the most nimble of rucks. And if Gardi is fit we have the problem of being two tall and slow (King, Gardi and Kosi) for the more agile Rucks of the blues. Hence despite his great effort last night i would leave him out for the Blues and bring him back for the Hawks. Kosi plays his best when he is able to crash the packs with his marking and does it well all over the ground anchoring him to the F50 would be folly as it will stop him from building confidence in his game again.

Personally I am looking foward to the Blues game where King and Gardi will alternate in the ruck and keep the ruck pressure up 100% of the time.
BOTH King and Gardiner are more than useful around the ground......and Gardi may also get a little bit of forward time.

So you would go with only 1 ruckman Kosi ?redwhite&blackblood wrote:Kingy was great but i think it is a case of horses for courses. Hale and Petrie aren't the most nimble of rucks. 1 of King and Gardi ( Gardi would be my choice if fit) plus Kosi. We have a similar problem to the Cats on GF07 day. Ottens is your Ruck and then you have Blake or King as the other where for us it is between King and Gardi as Kosi is more mobile.

Fair enough ,i still like the King Gardiner combination with Kosi having a run on the ball on occasions, because i reckon we need a big target forward to go to instead of trying to hold the ball up midfield, waiting for players to push forward.good thing is we have options to throwup at selection table, thats a bonusredwhite&blackblood wrote:No i would have 2 rucks.bergsone wrote:So you would go with only 1 ruckman Kosi ?redwhite&blackblood wrote:Kingy was great but i think it is a case of horses for courses. You want Blake in the backline at present to allow Sam Fisher to be able to run free...and for BJ to play more midfield time.
This is much greater value that Blake in the ruck.
Blake's spoiling skills have really stepped up this year.....and he is having less "brain fades".
