Seriously then GT should not have said anything about it in the media.

It's a fine line for media personalities to tread, business (football) and personal life.

Sam Newman doesn't have that line, I think it was all snorted up on that boat.

I try to avoid discussions about GT but at the moment the club is trying to get some stability and these sought of relationships with current players would not be helping. Whilst the club cannot do anything about it, it surely would be causing friction with someone, somewhere somehow.

I listened to an interview this week with Leigh Mathews on ABC radio. He was on a midday program called the conversation hour and it is not a footy show nor was the interview necessarily about footy, it was about Leigh, anyway one of the things he mentioned really stuck with me because I thought it was pertinent to our clubs current situation. He talked about his arrival at the club back in 99. The Lions had a good list, they had played finals for a couple of years and were showing real promise but had had a shocking run of injuries and landed on the bottom of the ladder in 98. He said when he arrived at the club it was in ok condition, but there was a little bit of instability in the club at various levels and so that was won of the areas he said the club addressed because he believes that for a club to be successful it needs to have stability at all levels.

Anyway this got me thinking, and really Geelong are a recent example of what happened at the Lions in the late 90s.

If I was I would have used one of these

Why would it be so hard to believe that a coach would do such a thing.

They do it in local footy. It's called giving a s*** about the people you work with.

Remember when it Harvey got the s***s because Blight didn't visit him in hospital after he did his knee.

Kevin Sheedy was huge on it. He used to encourage all club personnel to look out for one another, take somebody to the local cafe if you suspected something was wrong in somebodies life, that sought of thing.

The Hawks, (the family club) were and still are from what I hear huge on it.

Yeah it's professional but that doesn't stop individuals from performing acts of kindness to fellow human beings.

I have never heard so much rubbish in all my life. You want our senior coach to pick up a player from hospital because it means he cares. Well I am afraid family and friends care more and so they should. Do you know what time he left hospital we may have even been training but hey he should leave the rest of the group and go get a guy who was in hospital overnight for a minor operation to show he cares.

Yeah but I think that GT should not of told the media anything about picking him up or discuss any details of the operation. He should of just been acting in his capacity as the father of Bakers girlfriend. These type of acts only feed the GT/Saints frenzy.

I bet GT felt rude though, having to cut short his lunch with Roo to run and pick Bakes up...

I heard it on radio as well and immediately thought that it was not something he should have said. He smells of sour grapes every time he speaks about St Kilda.
I feel if he loved the Club he could use some maturity and leave some things unsaid.
He said it in a way that reflected poorly on the Club, Not just as a matter of fact.

So...a guy is in hospital for an operation...and he's collected by his girlfriends fatther as his own parents live in the country.

Strike me dead...probably happens dozens of times a day all over the country.

lets worry about our on-field issues eh?? Grizzling about this is petty in the extreme imho

Scraping the bottom of the barrel here.

We must've run out of things to talk about if this bothers us.

Totally agree

Hope Bakes realises that if he ever decides to propose to her that he will need to log on to SS first and get the approval of this Forum

They would and they have. Twice that I know of. Once the coach was Kevin Shinners (former Richmond) and the other time it was Geoff Rosenow (former Geelong) !!
