Need some stats

Post: # 584994Post spert »

Just wondering who is our best at first possession of the ball at ball-ups, bounces etc -is there such a stat?. While it is good that midfielders Hayes and Ball are tops in tackles, it means to me that they are tackling the player who has the ball, in other words, they are second to the ball. One of our poor stats is possessions overall I think.?? Any ideas.

suprisingly much of the forward line with worked well in previous seasons, riewoldt and milne particularly generally scored quite heavily prior to advise from barker...

No it still think one of our major problems is midfield pressure from rebounding out of our forward 50.
Our onballers are very good at stoppages the stats and games show that. Where we get smashed is the run opposition midfielders generate through the center. Once the ball goes wide, our lack of pace hurts us.
Can anyone say "Giansiracusa"?

Goddard has stated numerous times during interviews over the past few years that he wanted to play in the middle. He got a go late in the game last week apparantly so does this mean he is about to get a permanent gig on the ball?

What type of player will he be as an onballer? An in an under type or an outside receiver?

Thougts.

So isnt the finger to be pointed a half back line not getting on to the running centre / half forwards of the oposition ?
Missing Baker and defensive work by half backs . Gram is not too flash defensively

The other problem is not kicking goals ...

Riewolt .......yips
Kosi .... looks unfit to run out a game
no Gehrig ...... miss his accuracy

Scneider settling in OK
Milney is going OK

Oh good god!!
What are we going to do against Hawthorn?!
Young and Bateman are in some fine form ATM and then there is always Crawf to come back

I wonder if there is a stat for effective clearences, if you kick the ball out of the centre and it goes to empty space or lands in the oppositions hands that is still counted as a clearance.

Have a look at how Brisbane act in the centre, they rarely just bomb it on the boot anymore, they prefer to move the ball around with quick hands until someone has the space to break the lines or spot up a target in the forward 50....

If we could get the ball out of the centre like that I would love it, instead of it being another 50/50 contest it is a potential shot at goal and this is why IMO Brisbane will make the top 4...
