Gehrig set to go onto the LTI list

Post: # 570388Post Solar »

SEN have said that the noises are coming from moorabin that fraser will not retire but be put onto the LTI, allowing the club to elevate a rookie. A decision on his future will be made down the track.

Isn't that fiddling a trifle with the rules. He was good enough to play last week, suffered no injury in the game or at training, yet he is long term injured?

We might be inviting some unpleasant scrutiny from the AFL there.

Arthritis is a very long term injury and I say good on the Saints for being smart if this is true. Look at all of the other clubs that fiddle with the rules.

The Saints often get criticised for being dumb or not being creative with matters off the field. This one deserves credit.

Arthritis is certainly a LTI. Also allows us to elevate a rookie...so good outcome IMO.

The more I think about this the more I think the club management has been very smart. Obviously this could have been planned earlier in the year, maybe even when they re-drafted him.

You say to yourself hey! how do you reckon a 3 man forward line will go?
It might not work and the main reason you think this is because Fraser might not be able to cut it for another season. But excellent if it does, but we'll need a plan B

So what is plan B?

Plan B is he develops arthritis which allows us to legally put him on the LTI list and we bring in (insert replacement player) for our plan B game plan that really isn't much different to the plan A game plan so it should take long for the players to re-adjust to it.

Especially if they are in on the whole scheme of a plan B and Plan A and Plan B aren't that different.

best option for now
there was a suggestion yesterday that he has a hip problem-

he will be around the club to aid and guide,
he will be avialable IF we need him at the pointy end of the season
he will be able to end with dignity
the club does not lose out

may be other threads But they like this are still speculation- although this ' word from the club' appears closeer than any other this week :)

Love you Fraser.

Technically, if the rules are adhered too in their most honest form, you are right.

But rules are made to be broken, or, probably more fairly, and as stinger will no doubt tell you, loopholes are there to be found and exploited.

I was once told by some clown that the law isn't open to interpretation. I nearly fell off my chair in laughter and then committed to a life of busting open stupid rules 8-)

statement just out from the club

G train- chronic arthritic conditions whilst they explore optins for it's managment
Fraser:" My body just isnt' what it used to be and despite my best effort ......and I love the saints-.. I've got to listen to it and rest and"

Ross: Fraser is an inspiration around the club... But ...
Great words from Both fraser and Ross.

( more as the statement finds it's way online) no doubt.

I think that an AFL doctor has to assess the injury and confirm that the player being placed on the LTI list is unable to play for a period of at least eight weeks. Is this correct??

That's three possible rookie elevations, if you believe the reports of Connors injury.

Eddy - Was he rested against Collingwood VFL so he can be fresh for the Brisbane game? or is he genuinely carrying an injury. From a development point of view, he would be my first cab off the rank.

Miles - Still 1 week from recovery from stress fracture in his leg, will want to see how his form and fitness is before elevation is considered. Will have to take Blake or Geary's spot (which even he doesn't have yet).

Mini - Been playing well for Casey, but I still am unsure he will be able to make an impact at AFL level. Birss a better option due to tagging capability.

Chivers - Injured

Van Rheenen - Injured, and if he wasn't, McEvoy would be ahead of him.

Attard - Still 4-6 weeks away. Put him on ice and have him get ready for a senior spot in '09.

Haretuku - Finding his feet at VFL 2's level, plenty of development to do that that level yet.

In my opinion, play the "team full of midfielders", elevate one of Mini or Eddy this week.

Rules are no different to laws except parasites who wear horse hair on their heads don't get to rip us off.
There are laws that exist because they are written down and enforced. :(
There are laws that exist because they are written down but never enforced. :o
There are laws that exist but have never been written down and are enforced.
The last are extremely common in third world (that should read corrupt world) countries.

If you have rules that are not enforced - we see this every weekend during the season - then they can be ignored.
If the AFL does not intevene then anyone can go on the long term injury list providing a doctor says they are long term injured.

Mini is up already and Eddy wasnt rested. He had an injury. He will be next up if we need someone for Conners. I think they will leave G spot vacant to see if anyone comes good. Love that G spot.

■The Saints have elevated Andrew McQualter from the rookie list to replace Matt Maguire, who was placed on the long-term injury list after suffering a serious foot injury.

It must be official now...I just heard it on the news.Gehrig said it was the arthritis in his hands that will keep him out for 8 weeks or more.

Season 2024 is where RTB is showing the footy world his grasp of the modern game.

What is interesting is because his last game was in the ones he now gets paid match payments for as long as he is out. I am not saying is wrong but if he was dropped and played at Scorps and then went on LTI list he wouldnt get paid match payments. Does this worry anyone?
